Traveller day?

I think it used to link in with races at uttox, but think now it's become its own kind of event, always Easter Sunday and first Sunday of Scarefest. Also discovered the first Sunday of frightnights at Thorpe seems to be a hot spot as well!
 
Oh no - I'm there this sunday, staying over at ATH so I can enjoy a drink too. Is this expected to be the traveler day this year?
 
Yes, I think you can expect them being there this year, however if last year is anything to go by, then they could turn up any day.

I'm there this Sunday and I'm not at all worried. They wasn't a real problem last year, nor did they spoil our visit.
 
This might sound like a stupid quesion but, Why have 2 traveller days a year if 'travellers' are just going to cause problems?
 
I thought it was still on sale in the hotel bars, but they only allow guests in to the hotels?
 
Reckon there’s a chance of them being there on the Monday/Tuesday?

Spoken to AT via Twitter this morning - they have confirmed that alcohol will indeed be on sale in the park over the weekend. I'm not as much of an alcoholic as I sound folks o_O, however the prime reason for booking the hotel was so we could get loose with some beverages!

Anyone care to give some examples of how bad their behavior gets over these weekends?

We've got young ones in our party, wondering if we should seriously consider a change...

From what I’ve heard there’s quite a lot of queue jumping, offensive language, there’s a possibility there could be a fight between them. Generally they can be quite intimidating when they gather in large groups around the park.

Hmmmm... Such a tough one for AT to deal with. They have no grounds to refuse until something cracks off. How bad does someones behavior have to be before they are ejected? How the hell do you eject crowds of 10-15 people? They honestly must dread these dates.

A big concern is violent behavior in the mazes, not just for staff. Very easy to crack someone and get away with it in a dark environment.

Am I right in remembering that some of the haunted hollow scare walk 'incident' were traveler folk?

Usually there’s quite a big police/security presence on the day, so I’d like to think that problems would be dealt with swiftly, although this may not be the case. I’m not sure about the haunted hollow incident but knowing how they behave normally, it probably was.

Depending on which traveller community they are from depends on how they act.
One from the more respectful communities commented to me a few year back "this is why we get a ******* bad name" when some of the rough tinkers where kicking off.

The older generation tend to keep out of the way and not cause trouble. Unfortunately the vast majority are teens / young adults with something to prove.
