Hi

Have been lurking for a long time, becoming a bit of a rollercoaster geek! :)

We were booked to come to alton towers this week but unfortunately my daughter is really unwell and we have had to change dates. We are now going to stay in the CBeebies hotel on the 5th November.

I’ve not been to the fireworks before, can you give me any tips to make sure the day goes smoothly? Is it going to be totally mobbed??

Ticket wise, if I buy my ticket online does that get me into the fireworks? Can I leave the park at lunch time and come back later on?

For the fireworks themselves, would we see them if we were to stay beside the hotel or do we need to be right in the park?

Thank you! I’m slightly stressing, we’ve only ever been during the week when it’s nice and quiet!

Hi Sparkle, and welcome to TowersStreet!

The Sunday of fireworks is usually quieter than the Saturday however as the Sunday falls on the 5th this year I would imagine that will attract more guests than usual.

If you buy your tickets online, or as part of your hotel package, then yes you will have entry for the fireworks. You can leave the park if you wish to return to the hotel, you'll just need to make sure to get your hand stamped on exit.

You will need to be in the park to see the fireworks. You may be able to see some fireworks from the hotels however it would be a very poor experience! Somewhere around the bottom of TowersStreet is often a good place to see the show; it is worth getting your spot at around 6pm ready for the show at 7pm as it does get very crowded.

I hope you have a brilliant time and and feel free to ask if you have any more questions.

:)

That’s fantastic, thanks Rob.

I’ve been reading the fireworks 2017 thread and it hadn’t occurred to me just how busy it might be!

Instead of waiting for the monorail after fireworks is there a path we could walk to get us back to the CBeebies hotel? Daughter can go in a wee buggy so we could walk a fair distance without worrying about her!

Yes! If you head up towards Forbidden Valley you should be able to exit via the gate by Galacitca's portal. There are normally plenty of staff and signs on hand helping to point out the various ways you can go. Failing this there is usually an exit gate open in Mutiny Bay and from there you can walk back up to the hotels.

:)

This gate is currently within the SW8 construction site, so not sure if it will be available this year.

Also worth nothing that usually after fireworks the crowds heading valley direction are split between Haunted Hollow, Bypass road and Katanga Canyon. This year all those guests could be split between the new narrow path passing SW8 and Haunted Hollow.... which could be interesting!

I wonder if they will be working to get Katanga path way tidied up and secured from the SW8 site, I believe its only used for crossing vehicles to the site anyway.

Do both! Oblivion eats crowds up so you'll never have to queue long for it, may as well experience it day and night.

Quick question what wind speed causes a problem with the rides? Windy gusts of 18-19 mph predicted today will this stop rides ?

I was on park yesterday, winds were similar but there were no ride stoppages except for the Skyride, which was closed all day.

Heya, I was planning on going to Alton towers on the week commencing the 30th of October. I was wondering if theres any way of getting tickets cheaper than the usual prices? I saw that on the website you can get advance tickets for roughly 30 pounds, is there any way to get tickets for cheaper or is this the best option?
Thanks
