Alton Mouse SBNO

The ride formerly known as the Alton Mouse, now the Wild Mouse at Idlewild & SoakZone has been sitting standing-but-not-operating since the start of the season.

According to Screamscape:

Park News - (6/29/12) A disappointed reader reports that during their visit to Idlewild Park, they discovered that the park’s Wild Mouse coaster was not only closed, but park staff reported that it had yet to open at all this season. As the primary “big” coaster for the entire park, this is sure to disappoint all the park guests until they get it up and running again, so be sure to call ahead before you visit.

Worrying news for fans of keeping Alton's history alive! I believe it's very unique, the only wild mouse Vekoma ever made. :)

Some photos of it then...

Wow, in those last pictures it looks amazing all overgrown. It'd be a shame if it was scrapped, it looks like quite a nice little coaster to me, not forgetting part of Alton's heritage.

Good find there Sam. It's a massive shame it's come to this for what was the (fun and wobbly looking) Alton Mouse though I never realised Vekoma did Wild Mouse coasters!* Hope it pulls through whatever Idlewild are doing.

*Please correct me with examples.

Just to say I’m new to posting but been a reader of and on for a while now.

The mouse was a great ride, but also noticed that Thunder looped has now been registered as SBNO since 2/2012. Sorry to say that it looks like a hole generation of rids are going. Alll stared with the departure of the cork screw ... Good bye thunder looped , and the mouse :(

I wouldn't worry too much about the Thunder Looper just yet.

From what I can gather it is in an area of Hopi Hari which is currently being redevelopped into a Justice League themed land, so the ride is likely just SBNO due to that at the moment. The ride does seem to feature on the initial advertsing for the new area, so I can only assumed it will still exist but won't be known as Katapul for much longer.

Great ride. Idlewild is a small park, you've got to think they will get it open soon or discard/replace prior to next season.

It's actually got quite a nifty layout. It looks like a good little ride, I hope it doesn't end up on the scrap heap.

There's conflicting reports on what's going on with the Mouse, one which says it is requiring new parts, which are being custom made in Austria. The other, I'm afraid is a rumoured lawsuit involving the ride.

As the park seem to remain stonily silent when they're asked about in on FB (but are quite chatty otherwise), I think we all know which one is therefore starting to look more likely... and that can't be good news for the ride's longevity. :(

That lift hill makes me want to be violently ill

However considering I've never ridden it, it would be a shame to see the ride go.

it's just occured to me: With the Europa PEP track in RCT3, it might actually be possible to recreate this now! Not counting the tilted lift hill, of course.

Seems tempting,

I'm going to see what I can throw up in RCT3, then I might have a go in No Limits, that one will probably be more accurate because you can build lift hills like that.

I'd love to have a crack at it, but I'd rather have some clearer photos. Having never been on it, I'm not that familiar with the layout.

People keep saying a nice little ride but the mouse lasted longer than any of the the rides built in the last 15 years. I,m not saying its as good as some of the new rides but it was worth the que.

According to Screamscape, Wild Mouse is set to reopen again soon! They're saying it will likely be open again in a month or so. :D
