Fireworks 2017

Lots of complaints about this on Facebook. I can understand both sides of the arguement - those who have forked out for a pass don't like having to pay more while Alton to avoid complaints has to know the number of guests arriving to guarantee them entry.

I suggested on the Facebook page that perhaps in future, the £5 voucher could be used against food/drink/merchandise when in the park, so in effect it is free for the guest, while Alton still get some money back from it, and from those who do not turn up. They said they will think about this for next year.

I noticed lots of comments about it on Facebook, but AT did reply to one comment stating that last year half of the guests at Fireworks were passholders. So it must be hard for them if they can't predict how many passholders will actually turn up. I think the idea of exchanging the deposit for a voucher is a good idea and I would even increase the deposit to £10 if it was refundable against food/drink. Or make it a set item such as a Burger Kitchen meal etc. I do wonder for £5 if there are still passholders who will register and not show up.

As I said in my previous post I am hoping to use Clubcard vouchers and I wish there was a way to use them and pre-book!

(also I know this forum hates double posts, but you can't easily edit and add quotes!)

I think Saturday will be hell and i'm glad to be staying away. Given that queue times yesterday reached 70 minutes I dread to think what it will be like on Saturday. Not to mention getting out of the park and car parks afterwards!

I believe them when they say that they're almost sold out for the Saturday at least, I fully expect the park will reach capacity. Pre-booked my ticket last night as I'll be arriving after 3pm and would like it get in!

It would be silly if hotel guests, AP holders or not, did not get guaranteed entry.

:)

Did you email AT to ask if that was the case? Because when I emailed and asked if I'd get in at 5pm with a pre-booked pass holder ticket they gave me a very vague answer that didn't commit to anything. They basically they couldn't guarantee it at that time of day.

If they can't gurentee entry with a pre-booked ticket there is no reason to pre-book so I would hope they will honour late arriving bookers.

I bloody hope so too, I'm going to be mighty annoyed if they don't let me in because the park has reached capacity at 1pm etc. I even emailed back and said this and the ticket was promptly closed lol.

We might go to legoland tomorrow instead, Alton is a hefty drive for us.

The T&Cs state that is guarantees entry, they will know exactly how many have been sold therefore and the impact this will have on capacity. So the park could theoretically be at capacity at 11am even though 5,000 annual pass holders are still to arrive.

:)

Can't believe the stupidity of this going on again this year.

If you want things to change theres no point complaining about it on forums and social media. Just simply stop turning up at the park and handing them your money.

How is the park ever going to hit the reset button and start ironing out its problems if people are happy to blindly go along with whatever they do?

The stupidity of what, the park being busy and reaching capacity? They've actually been sensible this year in forcing annual pass holders to pre-book tickets to guarantee entry; myself and several other suggested that they do this after what happened last year.

At the end of the day the park is always going to be rammed on the Saturday of fireworks. And any theme park, be that Alton Towers, Magic Kingdom or Europa-Park, can be somewhat of a misery when at capacity.

:)

Looking at the past 2 days, I would be surprised if both days didn't reach capacity this year. Car park 'M' was only a few spaces away from being used today, so good luck for next weekend!

So what they are saying is even if you paid full price online and you turn up later in the day there's a chance you'll be turned away? So they cover themselves by burying it the q&a and t&c which very often people read. I got a feeling theres going to be one or two upset people next week
