Wood Coaster Poll 2017

The TPR poll is extremely biased towards US coasters at the moment as well with parks such as Efteling, Toverland and DLP not being included! Although I think they are looking at addressing this.

Also no moaning about the TPR poll, Alvey doesn't like that!

:)

The things that struck me about the TPR poll is that they're combining wood and steel into the same list - which I think is a mistake, but that's just my opinion - and something that Alvey said somewhere in the middle of the thread when someone asked why a particular coaster wasn't included in the poll. (Paraphrasing) "We're not including everything. This is a poll to see which coasters are best among those that TPR deems worthy to be included."
Two of those coasters deemed "unworthy to be included" were Ravine Flyer II and Wooden Warrior, which ranked #8 and #30 on the ElloCoaster poll.

TPR results are now in, they've done a combined list but also separate lists of wood and steel. I know "the Alvey factor" was a common talking point with the MH poll and I'm not sure how representative the results are of the wider community, it's nevertheless interesting to see a steel poll carried out using this methodology for the first time in several years.

Not sure I can take a poll that puts Wodan behind the likes of El Toro at Plohn, Megafobia, Grand National as well as others seriously! :tearsofjoy:

And Lost Gravity as the 24th best steel coaster in the world? I love the coaster but please!

:)

Very confused how "Medusa Steel Coaster" is 1# Steel Coaster yet Wildfire is in the wooden coaster list? Aren't they the same structure of Wooden supports with steel track? Or has Medusa got a higher % of steel to wood :p

Medusa is RMC's IBox Track, whereas Wildfire is Topper Track. The former is more of a steel coaster and the latter a variation on the traditional wooden coaster.

:)

That's a lot of RMC. Also found it funny that the best steel coaster on that list has "steel coaster" in its name! :p

There is a clear US bias though, though TPR is an American forum so it is to be expected I suppose.
