Trip Planning 2023/24: Information, advice and questions!

Hey, visiting for 4 days in April and looking at getting an annual pass.

When looking online, I am given two options (ignore the extension option).

Which one does what? Has anyone purchased through the website before? It looks like the Emotions-Card option is one you collect from the resort from the description but would love some clarification.

You are making a good choice in handing your money over to Roland!

They're are essentially the same thing though. One you will print off a PDF at home and use that to claim your Clubcard. With the other option you will recieve an Emotions gift card in the post with the value of a Clubcard loaded on to it; this is then used to collect the Clubcard when at the park.

I'd go for the Emotions card, then when you arrive you'll be given a ticket to get into the park (from the information kiosks at the entrance) and you will need to go to the information point at Euro Tower to collect your Clubcard.

Thanks for your reply, What would be the process if I did the print off PDF? Essentially the same thing? Go to Information kiosks at the entrance, get a ticket, go to Euro Tower.

What makes you choose the Emotions card more than the PDF option?

I also guess it makes no difference buying in advance or taking an extra 200 euros with me to buy when we arrive?

I've never done the PDF option but I assume that is the same. I go for the Emotions purely because it is nice to recieve in the post, although I did renew my pass online last time.

I'm not too sure how it works if you buy it on arrival, again this is something I have not done.

Okay, that's fair enough. Thought I might as well bombard you with questions whilst I have your attention :p Last question (at least regarding the clubcard), How long did it take for the Emotions-Card to arrive? Want to make sure I actually receive on time :D

EP are pretty efficient with postage, it should arrive within a week, maybe a little bit longer!

With the PDF option, there is a barcode on the top of it which gives you access to the park, so no need to go to the information desk for a park entry ticket. The PDF is your park entry. Then go to the Euro Tower guest services point and exchange it for a pass. :)

Quick question if I may - if we wanted to eat at the Silver Lake Saloon one evening is there any form of transport between the hotels and Camp Resort at all?

If you head over to the main entrance (a short walk from the camp resort), on the left you can access the monorail via a lift. Press the call button and a driver will open the lift for you. Just wait on the platform for the train to arrive.

Thanks, I’m not overly familiar with the layout of Europa as we have only been once and this will be the first time staying onsite.

So can we get the monorail from the hotels to the park entrance then walk to Camp Resort from there and then do the opposite on the way back? What time does the monorail run until? Sorry if I have misunderstood!

Yes you'll be able to travel on the monorail from the hotel over to the main entrance and back over again. Monorail wise I'm not sure on exact opening times but it's certainly operating through to when Silverlake Saloon closes. To give you a rough idea where things are, this is the rough route from Camp Resort (top left) to the main entrance:

Brilliant, thank you. I didn’t think we would be able to go due to the location but that’s really helpful.
 
They really need to build an omnimover that runs between the hotels, park entrance, and Tipidorf. And design it in such a way that it can be left running 24/7 unstaffed (with a "use at your own risk" disclaimer, naturally).
 
Would love to go to Europa Park but it looks like quite a trek - especially from the Midlands. There are cheap flights but most of them are from Stansted. And then you've got to get a transfer from the airport to the park.

Anybody travelled from the Midlands? What route would you recommend?

I made the trip from Stanstead in December for my first trip to Europa Park. I found it very easy flying into Baden Baden and then back via Basel.

If you need to help with the public transport links give us a shout.
 
EasyJet Manchester to Basel has always worked really well for us. Car hire pick up is easy at Basel, the drive is also easy and only takes about an hour.

We travelled from the midlands in August last year. It was a National Express to Stansted (also driveable but that was not an option for us due to a number of personal factors), then a flight with Ryanair to Strasbourg. In Strasbourg it was a train from the airport to Ringsheim, though you have to change trains at Gare De Strasbourg and Offenburg. Then it is a short shuttle bus to various stops around Rust, including the hotels and main park entrance.

It sound complicated, but it was actually pretty easy once we had planned it out properly. If you want, drop me a PM and I will talk you through the details, prices, and how we went about doing everything. :)
 
I'd also recommend Deutsche Bahn's app DB Navigator which is great for working out routes, pricing and in most cases platforms. Definitely worth having both while you're out there and for planning!
