I think it would be wise to actually find out if this is something Towers would allow before going any further, regardless how good the idea is :)
 
I thought we could all just rock up one day with it in our possession and dump it there

Bet Alton village would be happy to locate it if the Towers declined.

Looking on the website, they now have a "live chat" feature. I'm going to do that the next time somone is available- We should get an answer almost straight away! :)

Seriously, is that a new thing? They didn't check us back in 2016 when we had a bag full of food.

Well no, because the people manning the chat, or even their supervisors and or managers, will not have the authority to authorise something like this. They will just be frontline staff / management.
 
Been off the radar a bit for the past few days as something came up at home that needed dealing with.

This idea really depends/depended on getting some support or agreement from the powers that be on the website and also something from AT themselves. It can't really work without it, as mentioned in some earlier posts.

On the basis that I havn't really seen much encouragement with regards to that up to this point, I'm going to knock this idea on the head, for now, unless anything changes in the near future. It was a decent idea while it lasted, but it's not the end of the world that it hasn't really picked up any speed. It's all good.

Many thanks to everyone who has pledged that they would be willing to donate if the plan actually came to fruition. Much appreciated guys :)

I don't think you should give up, I think what is putting people of currently is the fact that Alton hasn't been approached and it is essentially an idea at the moment. It's basically like pledging for a crowdfunding campaign where they say "We've got this idea, It might happen, we haven't actually got approval yet..."

I think if AT gives the go-ahead you will see more interest in the idea and therefore more enthusiasm.
