We're a month into the new year, so it is time for a 2018 Europa-Park General Discussin thread!

Please use the existing 2018: Eurosat & More thread for discussion relating to Eurosat and the other changes to the French themed area coming this year.

But anyway, looks like Wodan is being removed.... ;)

RMC will be in before we know it!

:)

Nope, it's gone. Don't forget, Mandy and Roland are best buddies. No doubt she persuaded him that woodies are more trouble than they are worth. If she plied him with enough pilsner, she may have even been able to convince him to put a fountain where Wodan once stood.

You belong on a stage dude :D

According to Looopings, EP are replacing 300m (984ft) of Wodan's track this closed season. If true that is just under 30% of the entire length!

:)

Is the retrack done by EP in house? I never noticed any particular sections of extraordinary roughness last year. I wonder if the other two thirds of track will be redone over the next two years.

Pretty certain that GCI will be in doing the work. I don't think roughness was really the issue, Wodan was running tremendously last month. It's just all part and parcel of their outstanding park wide maintenance, and probably making sure it never reaches a point when it is rough.

:)

Looking forward to hopefully getting back to Europa Park this year!

I must be honest I was slightly underwhelmed on my first visit a couple of years ago but expectations were very high. We had two full days on park and managed to get pretty much everything done. Next time however I'm looking forward to exploring the park at a slightly slower pace and taking it all in.

I can absolutely understand why people rate it so highly. The operations are simply ridiculous - They even had a staff member at the Silver Star entrance on the look out for the 'larger' guests to prevent them joining the queue and potentially holding up a train dispatch.

The lack of fasttrack is also a breath of fresh air. I don't mind queuing an hour for something if the queue is constantly moving.

Not sure why Silver Star gets slated so much? It's the best ride at the park for me and the airtime was incredible on my visit.

Whilst none of the coasters are top 5 worthy, they're all in the 'very good' category. Blue Fire is worth re-riding literally just for the final inversion.

On another note Atlantica SuperSplash seems a bit of a waste of space IMO. They could have built something far more imaginative in that space surely? Especially as they already had the far superior Poseiden.

Anyway - it's the most well run park I've ever experienced and I can't wait to get back there. Phantasialand tops it for me but that's because there are a lot of big thrills in a small space.

It would seem that EP are due to announce what is happening to Old 99 soon:

Unless of course I have totally misinterpreted Mr Mack's post!

:)

Gotta love an EP random retheme, keeps things fresh. Wonder what they have in store this time.

It's not random.
It's about "Jim Knopf und Lukas den Lokomotivführer".
I don't know the english translation for it.

I didn't know that, but I meant as in the seemingly arbitrary choice of which attraction to retheme any given year, rather than the nature of the retheme itself.

Some of the new Europa-Park Lidnt chocolate:

Just a reminder that Lidnt is replacing Milka as the official chocolate supplier to the park this year.
