Drayton Manor Park

After a lot of searching on youtube, I think I've found a POV of Pirate Adventure in a decent condition. All of the animatronics moving, and even the ghost pirate section at the end. Would probably have been filmed during the 2006 season, as I believe the fire happened during this year and the deterioration of the ride started to really set in after this period, although strangely it was uploaded at the end of dec 2007. In light of the duel TLC and SFX, that ghost pirate section (6:34) is something I think they could do with, especially where the head turns upside down.

How did he get into the park during closed season? Brilliant footage though! But the park didnt have any Thomas Ladn dated back when it was filmed. Unless of course it was a staff member?

I think he took it in the 2006 main season not during any closed period, it was just uploaded in late
2007. I have memories of it looking even better than this around 2001/2 well before everything starting rotting though, which is a shame as there’s no public footage of this :) And no, there was no Thomas land then, there actually used to be a Pirate Adventure themed shop in the exit, which lead out to the end of Robinson’s fruit shoot land just behind the Vintage Cars. At the entrance there used to be a large pirate ship built in to the Pirate building which housed the old burger bar, called Buccaneer burger bar, which was built in 1990 alongside the ride/dodgems/ showroom building (it’s now the burger kitchen place).

This video makes me feel a bit sad, as the Big Wheel and Cable Car are gone :(. It is interesting seing the Cranky tower ride with seats removed though! :)

Saw that quite a while back :)
I do love the sea shanty music that plays around Fisherman's wharf. Always reminds me strongly of Chatham dockyard and walking between all the Brigs, Sloops, Destroyers and that weird looking Monitor ship... it's weird because when I visit Chatham it always instantly reminds me of Drayton Manor as well :p

I see the new attraction for 2018 is Ice age 4D no time for nuts. Was this the show that Alton Towers last showed in there 4D cinema?
Yeah, The 'No time for nuts' show was shown at Alton Towers during the 2015 and 2016 seasons.

Hopefully this one will be better than Towers one with the moving seats and water effects!

So SF10 is getting signed off with the relevant authorities this week ready for operation. I believe staff will be riding it also. It will be nice to have one of the UK's best flumes back open.

Yeah, I really missed it last time I went. :( Looking forward to hopefully riding it this year! :)

If anyone doesn't know already, if you've pre ordered your season pass, they've been printed off now so you can collect them whilst the park is open during its Thomas weekends, so I'm probably going to do that on Saturday. Season pass package looks very similar to last year: booklet with vouchers like 20% off the Grill Inn and all park catering outlets/souvenir shops, free ticket for Vertigo, 2 for 1 park entry vouchers, afternoon tea at the hotel voucher, and free entry on the Friday 2nd November which is the first of 3 days of fireworks :) All in all pretty damn good for value :D

Apologies for the double post. Lots of updates: Golden nuggets rethemed to Sherrifs Showdown. Canyon arcade now Stormforce 10 arcade. New signage and building for pandemonium and stormforce. Tower 5/stand up floor less is running on apocalypse for the first time for a number of years.

Affirmative. Will remain locked off and closed. Boats currently in the Excalibur lake.
Sherrifs showdown will have a new target system, maintenance shed and station. Wil be open next week.
Apocalypse now plays electronic/ drum and bass music, a new soundtrack made for the ride

Having not visited Drayton in many years now, I had no idea Apocalypse's stand-up floorless side was closed, but it's good to know it's operating, as it's absolutely terrifying as I recall.
