At least that means the VIP pass is consistent with the Platinum Fasttrack, feels more unfair if a VIP passholder can get Fasttract when it isn't available for purchase. I wouldn't expect too many people to purchase on day one anyway but that Gold Fasttrack seems cheap to me.
They have previously offered special rates for hotel guests so I wouldn't be too surprised

If someone is in a Fast Track queue, they're not in the standby queue which makes the standby queue shorter. If they're using a one off ticket, there is likely close to zero impact on people in the standby queue.

If they're using a VIP pass or Unlimited Fast Track, there is a marginal impact on those in the standby queue - I accept, but it's so incredibly marginal because of the capacity of the ride vs. the number of people that have the inclination to pay for the above make it so.

Neither do I understand the outrage associated with people who pay for Fast Track getting something over people who haven't. It's capitalism - the very reason the ride exists in the first place. If you're in a position to be able to afford to go to the park, you've got something over people who can't afford to go.... and so it continues when you enter the park.

Oh I don't dispute your posting - and agree, if you can afford to visit the park, then you have something over someone who cant and on and on and on and on.

However, having it on a brand new ride, on its first weekend when visitor numbers should be high and teething problems are to be expected just seems a bit silly. I cant recall it happening on other rides during their opening weekend, and if anything, everyone waiting to ride it for the first time together adds to the fun of the day. Seeing smug "VIP" pass holders with their lanyards on constantly going up the fast track queue and causing the main queue to slow down will just annoy people!

Any form of queueing that's gets faster access then main is going to annoy people, as a rap user I get filthy looks sometimes (hoping that it's slightly spread out on Wickerman)

DBGT and Galactica opened with VIP fastrack from day one

Well RAP isn't about faster queing, it should be about equal access and making sure those who cannot use the standard queue can wait elsewhere and then join a shorter queue later.

EDIT to elaborate - Disney have made it so that almost all standard queues are wheelchair accessible so 99% of people join the main queue. Only a small number who are unable to queue due to Autism or similar collect a return time and this is all managed by the DisneyWorld App. For me this is the way it should be going forward and I am constantly surprised Merlin build standard queues that have steps or other access issues.

It's not but it looks like it's faster as most people don't know about the timeouts

Don't know if this has been posted, but wicker man has appeared on the Alton towers app under the family section. I would have thought it would be posted under thrill, like thirteen, as they're both family/thrill rides.

There shouldn't be any fast track whatsoever on Wicker Man on the very first weekend to make it fair for everyone.
I agree, as a theme park goer, I despise fastrack, in any form - 'fair' is however subjective.
Personally, I think it is 'fair' that customers who pay for a service are entitled to receive said service... o_O

I don't think there is any option other than to include fastrack on opening day/week/weekend of WM.

I appreciate there may be a 'get-out-clause' in the small print but then that would devalue the pass if enforced. Whilst punters are evidently paying whatever Merlin charge (there is still a waiting list!) this is the last reputation they would want.

"it says unlimited fastrack but it didn't count on the new ride because 'it wasn't fair'" - I don't think that would wash.
