TPW have uploaded a review of Wicker Man (Disclaimer: There are spoilers!):

If you don't want to watch the video, Shawn essentially said:
  • The ride is a fantastic experience. Think Hex I felt it were a roller coaster.
  • The ride itself really surprised him, because it is paced quite well and doesn't feel like it is fizzling out.
  • There are a couple of good moments of airtime.
  • He ranks it as the joint best wooden rollercoaster in Britain alongside Megafobia at Oakwood.
  • There is tons of audio around the area and it sounds great.
  • The ride has lots of little pieces of theming.
  • At the end, he even said "Icon at Blackpool Pleasure Beach has some serious competition". Interesting!

Is there actually a POV in his video or is that a clickbait video thumbnail? I couldn't find a POV, but couldn't be bothered to watch a 20 minute monologue :tearsofjoy:

Is there any chance this will open tomorrow? I know in the past there was talk of it opening for the pre season days but my hopes aren't high.

Alton have said it will not be open for any of the pre season event days.

No there isn't any POV footage available from yesterday's event, although there will be some rider's reaction POV stuff next week. No doubt there will be one released at some point, but cameras were not allow on the ride yesterday.

They would never confirm it's opening prior.

It will open & be a lucky bonus considering a lot of the rides such as Rapids/Battle Galleons and other rides won't be ready for this event this weekend.

:)

Thanks man :) Yeah, when I had asked them on Wednesday they never said it wouldn't be, they just avoided answering the question.

They have been fairly clear in saying it will not open

Again, I think you are missing the point.

They will NOT confirm it online prior to the event.

Then, should it not open, there'd be outrage from the attendees. Whereas if they deny it opening, and it does, it's a nice bonus to fill up an already depleted ride line up for the pre-season event.

:)

I get they wouldn't say it will be if it was going to open I would have expected them not to explicitly say it's not.

They would, because then you don't get people's hopes up that it will. If things are ready, and they're capable of opening it then I'm sure they will. But, as WickerManiac said it's a nice bonus not something that they'll hint toward. Sam-Wise, my tip would be head over, enjoy the day and if it opens treat it as a nice surprise :)

Cheers, Craig - That's my plan :)

Plus, if they say it will be open this weekend, people who don't know about the buyout events will complain, moan and even chance their luck at turning up on the day (and subsequently moan).

It's better to say it won't open, then open it up as a 'pre-opening trial' or whatever.

Here's an edited version of the Q&A from yesterday. No spoilers in there that I can think of. They say nothing of what's in the pre-show. I thought it was a really good Q&A session with lots of interesting bits of info.

I can see why they ultimately dismissed it, but I would've been really down for the "What if wood had a brain?!" theme Bradley mentions. Very high-concept.

Reading this Guardian review, it again states it isn't high G-force but there is an intensity from hurtling round what looks like a pile of matchsticks!

I also like this line from Francis Jackson, who I think sums up a lot of the same feelings as this forum.
As for what impact the ride will have on footfall, Jackson is guarded. “We’re not just focused on the dollar,” he says. “If the experience is right, the guests will come.”
