I can see cost savings on this. And wonder if the savings would go into park maintaince?
I do also have my paranoia on about is this part of a bigger plan of discouraging bags and packed lunches.

They really are shooting themselves in the foot here. More people will take items like phones onto the ride with them as they don’t trust the totally insecure baggage cages. This will cause more ride stoppages, which will cause more pathetic articles in the Daily Mail, thereby putting prospective guest off going as they think it’s ‘unsafe’. Fair enough, it’s to cut staff, but why not put sliding gates onto the cages to separate each train, similar to Galactica? This way, baggage would be more secure.

But.....! They are a business! Profit is the only thing that matters! We are unreasonable for daring to expect logic!

[Insert strawman fanboy argument here]

Sliding gates reduces the amount of available space for people to access the cages, causes more congestion and slows down loading even more. Capacity is going to take a big hit anyway, but gates would make it worse. Galactica gets away with it as there are multiple bag stores running the length of the station.

Can't even tell where the baggage holds and SRQ's were, covered up so professionally. :D

That only works if the ride operates just two trains.

So I hear RAP merge themselves on Smiler now? (Well I guess someone will confirm next week), that's gonna be fun, you get enough abuse when there's a staff member there to control things, and once at Thorpe they tried it (not having a merge host) and it caused utter carnage of Stealth.

Although it's not very cool, I have one of those travel money pouches that sits down your trousers. It's big enough for money, cards, a phone and even a small camera (obviously you can't stick an SLR down your trousers). It seems like a secure way for keeping most of your valuables safe.

Perfect for a man, we rummage down our trousers daily. Wouldn't recommend in a public place. It's not gonna save you in court when saying that you were trying to find money down there.
