Roadworks in Alton for opening day

Seen this posted this evening on a Facebook page from a local B&B I have stayed at several times about roadworks on the main route into the park on Saturday:

Roadworks on opening day of Wicker Man at Alton Towers!!!
There are currently roadworks and traffic lights in place in Denstone on the main road to Alton Village and Alton Towers. These will cause delays if you are rushing to be one of the first to be on the new ride on Saturday. Suggest you allow yourself plenty of time.

I am unsure exactly where this is. It may be the road past the JCB factory towards Denstone, or, in the windy lanes towards Alton Village. Anyone who went last week notice any roadworks which could cause delays?

Either way - you may want to leave a bit earlier if you plan on getting there first thing.

There were two sets, just past JCB as mentioned, with traffic lights (which were causing traffic last week) and also some on the road to resort a bit before the access road to Oblivion. The second set didn't have lights, so weren't really a problem, just meant traffic heading to the resort had to give way to the traffic leaving.

If the delays are really bad take the exit before (if coming down the A50 from M1) and go up the A515 to the A52 then back down the B5417 and into Alton that way as you'll bypass JCB completely and miss the roadworks, it's a little longer mileage wise, but at least you'll get there 10 minutes later instead of an hour.

Checked with the b&b and they said:

it’s just after the Denstone farm shop and the roundabout. You can avoid it by turning left and going through Denstone village if the queue isn’t already past there
