A few generally reliable people on TT saying that Nemesis will be running just one train all season due to maintenance issues.

Surely not? This is something only Thorpe would manage to pull off?

Does anything really surprise you anymore though?

If it does happen it’s not a maintenance issue, it’s a money issue.

It says it all regarding the budget cuts that people aren't doubting this. Having said that, I'd be surprised if this were true.

They did manage to break one of the restraints late season.

It would be absolute chaos at Scarefest and in the summer though, you can't just cut the capacity of one of your most popular attractions in half.

That's just part of the release mechanism and should be relatively easy to replace, not something that would keep it on 1 train for an entire year.
I know, but I wouldn't be surprised if Merlin used it as an excuse, would you?

Who knows, frankly. I was aware there was an issue but didn't realise it had occurred before the end of last season. Why they haven't been able to sort it the 4 1/2 months they've had is anyone's guess.

So let's take stock of where this leaves us. It's an SW year with Towers hoping to draw huge numbers of guests back in.

Nemesis throughput: -50%
Smiler throughput: -30% (ish)
Thirteen throughput: - 30% (ish)
Galacity throughput: still has at least some VR, so -30% on where it should be
Rita throughput: appalling

Good job.

The Nemesis statement is a load of rubbish. People making snowball style statements which then spread.

FAKE NEWS.

Nemesis will be on 1 train this weekend due to the fact 1 has required a major load of work from B&M with replacements to significant parts of the train.

But it will be on 2 soon.

This is why coasters with multiple trains should have at least one more train than the circuit allows, so that if a train has to be taken out of service they have a spare one to replace it, without reducing capacity.

How often does a train need to be taken out of service needing a spare to take its place?
I assume parks do cost benefit analysis to work out if it's worth it.

This is true of year round opening parks. But for seasonal parks they should be able to work on both trains over closed season. Although it is possible there was a delay for parts or similar meaning they aren’t ready for the first week of season But in general it’s rare for a seasonal park to need a spare train.
