That's good news, it about time too, I can't wait to jump up and down on the VIP one's (only Joking ;)).

Jess and I ordered one too and are looking forward to seeing them laid :)

I think the fact that there is around 7 people watching it and one of the crew members trying to get the clapping going says it all really. Terrible. I appreciate the effort but this is just not Alton Towers.

Merlin needs to learn that trying to act cool does not mean they are 'cool' for the kids. Trust me, I'm probably the target audience they are trying to appeal to and they are failing badly. Trying to do something magical will enhance the guest's experience, rather than watch people dance in cheap clothing on a small, low-down stage. At least, the old pirate show had a bit of personality to it!

Aside from Wicker Man, Alton Towers was absolutely dire on Sunday.
  • Wicker Man didn't open until 12 noon, broke down again after two trains, so we didn't get on until 12:30 despite having arrived at 8:30 in the morning to be there for the "ERT"
  • Ride testing on Wicker didn't start until gone 9:30am
  • Staggered openings of coasters are awful as it means everyone goes to Wicker first, which inevitably wasn't ready (new ride anyone??)
  • Removal of single rider queues makes it very difficult to get all the coasters done in an already short day, we missed out on loads
  • Skyride closed all day made it even more difficult to get a decent ridecount
  • No extension to opening hours despite terrible reliability, capacity and park operations
  • Hex already feels tired and the sound system in the ride section wasn't working properly
  • Some of the changes in Duel are nice, but the screaming room is still terrible? Like, the new paintwork is nice but the lights still highlight the workings more than the faces themselves

Such a shame to see Alton in such a mess, especially when Wicker Man is such an outstanding coaster... the park deserves better.

Couldn't agree more. On our first visit this year how amazing was the view of wicker man from the monorail with smoke and flames etc. What a great day we are going to have! Err well get to mutiny bay and it's. ........ dead Heave ho is down and the barrels are not running? Or is it no one is on? It was the latter and operator looked relieved someone was around. Kids then desperate to get on WM 60 mins queue but hey let's do it. However after downtime it was about 90 mins but I must say wow! preshow and ride itself took me by surprise it was fast and that drop was decent. So at 1pm let's hit the park! But....... was it just me there the atmosphere ended no Congo river rapids, RMT was walk on with half filled trains, duel which was half (if even that much?) working. Nemisis looked amazing but wasn't impressed with galactica atmosphere and the laminated sign regarding VR which confused some riders in front of us. No skylift so a hike over to x sector as Rita was down but still no atmosphere as rides seemed quiet even spinball was only a 10 min wait. It would seem this is a one ride park regarding effort made by the powers that be and the guest appetite. Is this how the place felt when nemesis, oblivion or air opened?

Fact. If wicker man is not open for ERT. The whole idea of ERT is none existent so hotel guests no longer have the perk so may as well stay in nearby b and b for half the price!

That is understandable, but it seems unwise to leave the park's newest coaster on the ERT without a backup - the issue may have been unavoidable, but not having a backup ready is unacceptable.
Stuff happens. I suspect they were optimistic they wouldn't need one.

To have a backup you'd need TS to be done 30 (or 90) mins earlier than scheduled, depending on what was the reserve. You'd need staff in and ready and you'd need a route to said ride clear and monitored

I appreciate that doesn't help your predicament.

I just feel they put too many eggs in one basket it needs to be a whole experience it's not let's all ride one coaster at 9:30/10 am and then head elsewhere at 11 am with this idea they are in trouble if wicker man doesn't open by 10am (which seems pretty often?) And they have icon to compete with soon!
