This awesome ride needs a topic.

She is falling apart station wise but she is an awesome ride with the intimidation factor of 11.

Please discuss below about the old girl.

A list of things I love about Nemmy:

- The helix.
- Watching the helix.
- Listening to the roar of the track.
- The monster.
- The way it hugs the ground- the world's only terrain (except for maybe Black Mamba) inverted coaster.
- The river of blood.
- The sign saying "this is the world's most intense...".
- The way the track has faded to give it a more rustic charm.
- The first stall turn.
- The second stall turn.
- The Bus.
- The fast-paced, non-stopping action.
- The logo.
- The way the drop picks up speed...
- ...before smashing into the first corkscrew.
- The fact that it's not possible to avoid have a sex face at the ORP.
- That loop, and going under the tunnel.
- The music in the station.
- The queue that hangs to the cliffs.
- The way the monster's tentacles appear as B&M box track.
- The fact that every time I ride it, I come off shaking and barely being able to walk.
- I will ride for the first time in about 2 years in almost a weeks time :D

I LOVE NEMMY.

There are clearly a lot of things I've missed out from the list, but I can't remember everything.

Edit-

A few more things I've thought of:

- It was designed by God.
- It shows the American's that height is not very important when creating a worldwide top 10 coaster.
- The highest intensity of any ride in the park.
- Seeing it from above on the monorail when first entering the park.
- The back row.
- The front row.
- Any row.
- The foot-chopper element on the zero-G roll.
- The way it maximises the space it was given.
- The smoothness of the ride.

Nemesis is a great ride the 2nd best in the park i think but is the most intense in the park and has definitely got quicker over the years and the g's are really good and the theming is great and is truely a great ride and the one of the best ride that Alton towers have bourght and the way it blens in with the land and the nosie it makes. ;D

Upon my last visit to Alton Towers we did Nemesis front row and it reminded me why I love this ride so much. After recent visits to Phantasialand, Black Mamba was starting to win the war for me. However that has now changed and Nemesis still wins hand's down.

I actually enjoy queueing for Nemesis - I'm still amazed at what they acheived with this ride, considering when it was built and the technologies in terms of construction back then! Infact, even in this day and age if the site was empty and we were told 'a B&M Inverted rollercoaster is being built' we would all laugh!

They way the supports are attached onto the side of the rock walls, how close the track/train come to the ground as it hurls it's way around the circuit and the compact layout of the ride all help to enduce it's charm.

For me, it's set a benchmark for intensity and landscaping that has never been rivalled - certainly on an inverted coaster - since.

One of the things I really like about the theming around Nemesis is the way that, when viewed from the right perspectives, the monsters legs and bones seem to wrap around the track. My favorite example being the view from the Mushroom Clouds tourbus area, the back of the mosters spine perfectly frames the top half of the loop, and if you change your viewing angle just a bit, the same piece of scenery also frames the underground corkscrew. The way the ride is presented is just so clever.

Even thinking about a run round Nemesis makes me smile.

Last time me and the missus were at AT, we rattled down there and got the first run of the day, with only 2 other people.

It was a slightly misty day, colder than you'd have liked, and hitting the drop the air really sucked from your lungs. Certainly is one to test how well your breakfast is sitting in your gut.

Most epic experience I've had at AT I think.

As a tall fella, I am crammed into the seats, making it really snug and I can just hand loose as really let the g-force rip into me. Really sucks the blood into my feet and makes me quite dizzy when I come off the ride. I also love how it instantly turns the missus' hair into an 80's throwback. Epic volume. (hell, it does that too me too).

Love it.

Definitely the most intense ride at AT!

I have been on many inverted coasters around the world but most of their designs are the very similar. Nemmy is unique. It just shows how much a well designed coaster like her has an impact on the coaster world.

18 years old and still bags a punch! She´s smooth, intense and just one of the best ride experiences you will ever have in your life.

I Love It.

oh yes, she a fine beast of a coaster. I loved rider her the years she opened and still love rider her today.

Mmmmm Nemmy... It will be sad to see her go, I think I'll go down with her.

The day the park announces death to Nemesis is the day 1000's of Uk enthusiasts jump off a cliff like Lemmings.

Nemesis is one of those rides that I can never get enough of - even though it is an intense but enjoyable riding experience.

This ride is my favourite ride so far I haven't been in a while due to a back problem but hoping to go back soon .... them everything about this ride and my parents always wanted to go One this ride but can't no more due to health issues

I'm going to throw a different opinion ball in here and admit that I don't enjoy the ride experience of Nemesis.

I struggle to hold Nemesis in such a high regard among you all purely out of the intensity it gives and the consequential moments of pain even when my head is back against the seat thus the fun is whittled down a big extent. Yes intensity and roughness on rides is fun for some, which is why I can see the affection from many and respect that, but a literal nightmare for others whose bodies can't withstand those aspects. That said it doesn't mean I hate the layout, I find that to be gorgeous in every sense of the word and what the makes the ride today next to the familiar roaring and booming soundtrack. So whilst I can only find myself doing Nemesis once per visit, I will happily sit there and watch the trains stream past on the track.

Aesthetics, Nemesis could honestly do with a massive clear up alongside improvements on theming and adding new material especially since Sub Terra has been discovered. The intimidation still stands but as some say there should be a better explanation to why Nemesis exists on the same line as Oblivion's The Lord of Darkness either in audio or written form. Nonetheless Nemesis still is a well crafted landscaped ride, explanation included, and it wouldn't have had the same impact if the ride sat on a flat piece of land. The argument that the weathered look like with any ride that's meant to be old and foreboding is utterly silly however and should never be used as an excuse... But that's an argument for another day :p

So all in all, I admire Nemesis but can only do so at the sidelines and the same applies for any intense and/or rough ride that makes a living out of looking pretty and intimidating at the same time. Much like how a strong cup of tea isn't my ideal cup of tea!

I have just returned home from park today, I managed a good few rides on Nemmy and I must say that it was absolutely FLYING round the track. The rain came around lunch time and from then on she seemed to be faster each time I rode. This certainly wasn't just my imagination.

Despite this increased speed it was smoother than usual. Truly remarkable!

Do others find that a wet track significantly alters the ride and if so are other rides similarly affected? I didn't notice much difference on any other rides...
