Woohoo! The opening hours can only get better from here on in! I reckon there will be 7pm closes (or possibly even later!) in the summer months!

2018 is turning out to be the comeback year that the park really needed after a rough stretch from 2015 to 2017, which is great! The British public seem to be coming in high numbers, and they seem to be loving Wicker Man, too! All Alton needs to do now is move onwards, and leave the rough stretch behind them. While it was tragic, and my thoughts are still with all those injured, the accident was nearly 3 years ago now, and the victims seem to be moving on, so you should move on too, Towers. Thankfully, it looks like they're really trying to. The only way they can go from here is upwards, and I reckon the coming years will be a really exciting time for the park if Wicker Man is anything to go by! I reckon we could see N:ST and Twirling Toadstool reopen next year, and I think that the park's 40th anniversary year could have something quite special in store for us!
P.S. Sorry for the long post, and the amount of times I said "I reckon".

I'm not sure what you mean, but my point is more; it's majority of school holidays, of course it will be busy...

Exactly what @Rob said

I think the point was that the park was dead during Easter 2016 and not that much busier during Easter 2017. So things have definitely picked up this year, although I would still love to know today's gate figure and see how it compared to pre-cuts busy day gate figures.

Or the extended hours could just be an acknowledgement that the park is failing customers with operations and people waiting in the plaza an 1hr+ just to gain entry isn’t acceptable.

By making it public the next few days are extended might even reduce the plaza issue as some won’t rush there for opening.

Park operations have been poor all day today and it has put me off returning until something is done about it.

Entering the park was a bit of a farce with no end of confused people over who was/wasn’t able to enter

I understand that there is an issue with Nemesis, but there was no excuse for the third train not to be added to Galactica until 2pm, or for Oblivion to be on one loading bay, for example. The Smiler and Runaway Mine Train also both had downtime during busy parts of the day - I wasn’t religiously checking RideTimes so I’m sure there was more.

The ratio of Fastrack to main queue seemed a bit crazy on some rides, Wicker Man at the start of the day in particular. Given there are no longer seemingly any places to buy Fastrack either other than the Box Office, this was surprising.

The queue at the Box Office just was a sight to behold, trailing well past the fountains and almost backing up to Towers Trading across the path, with the other queue flowing out of the entrance also.

It’s great that park close has been extended, but I don’t really think the park should be congratulated for park hours that should be standard in a school holiday period anyway, and certainly not against the background of everything else.

Well guess what wicker man down (again! ) and no one is leaving the queue so I guess 7/8 pm close tonight

If WM had a big fastrack q as they don’t sell 1 shot fastrack so have to buy the gold or platinum fastrack. They must be making loads of extra wonga

You would have thought Merlin would've implemented some sort of Fasttrack app by now..

They would certainly have the ability to sell more that way or at least control the numbers a bit more easily.

Not enough to have the appropriate amount of staff though clearly.

We need a map of where these 30 survey tablet are

I am sure between us we could find them all. (Adding closed to one like the thirteen shop one)

1. Next to the toilets (inside) turnstiles
2. Smiler shop
3. Galactica shop
4. Thirteen's shop (closed)

Thought it was already unlimited with the platinum fastrack or VIP pass

Can’t see them selling 1shots any time soon. Why should they when people will spend £55 + to get a fastrack for it.

@ringo WM FT becomes unlimited on 17th of April.

It would have to be the day I planned on visiting. Arggggh.
However it is an off peak day so hopefully they won't shift too many. I certainly won't buy one even though I can comfortably afford to. Way over priced.

Same people who bought houses they couldn't afford in 2005 but didn't work that out for 3 years.... Credit cards are being given out like candy again, just a matter of time again... So many people I know are living way above their means.

So true, people have learnt nothing from the last market crash!

It's a shame that people keep lapping this stuff up no matter what the cost is, it just gives Merlin more reason to increase prices further.
