Any tips for WDW in April 2019?

Hi guys. Sorry that this is my second request for tips in one week, but my family was able to reschedule our WDW holiday to April 2019. Now, we normally go to FL in August, but this time we're going in April, so it's a bit different to when we usually go. We've booked to fly out there with Virgin Atlantic, we've booked a Select Villa, we've booked to drive a Cadillac XTS or similar and we've booked 14 day Disney passes. Our new dates are 9th-19th April 2019. I just wondered about what the Walt Disney World parks are like in April, with regards to things like crowd levels, weather etc from anyone else who may have been in this time period. Also, my parents were wondering what the Disney waterparks are like in April. Anything park-related is appreciated.

I will warn you now. Galaxy Edge will not be open for when you visit, but toy story land will be.

Thanks @TPC. We booked this trip knowing that Galaxy's Edge wasn't going to be open. It isn't due to open until November/December 2019, correct?

Yep, that's correct. I have personally not visited Orlando in my life but I know a lot of information about both Disney and universal. Is there anything specific you want to know? (It may be easier just to message via discord)

I don't know whether you'd be able to answer this, but do you know what crowds should be like at the WDW parks on 9th-19th April?

You are visiting during the Easter break so it will be busy (similar crowds to now). However, I still think with a plan and the use of SRQ, you should be able to do the majority of rides. Fast pass is a necessity for organising your trip, especially with the recent changes to the system. Magic Kingdom is simply for now picking any attractions (recommend 7dmt and the mountains). The other parks have a tier system. Epcot you need to get a frozen and soarin fast pass. Animal Kingdom you should get FOP (for tier 1) and ek/ks (for tier 2). DHS you should get SEE (for tier 1) and TOT/R&RD (for tier 2), with a rope drop run to TSM.

Um, what do SEE and TSM stand for, out of interest? In terms of DHS Fastpasses, I was thinking we should get Slinky Dog Dash, Tower of Terror and Rock'n'Rollercoaster. For Epcot, I was thinking Test Track as well as the ones you suggested. For Animal Kingdom, I was thinking Flight of Passage, Everest and Kali River Rapids, but Kilimanjaro is a good shout now you've said it. For Magic Kingdom, I wasn't too sure, but I was thinking either BTM or Space Mountain alongside Splash Mountain might be good shouts.

Hi Matt

Lots of great advice above from TPC.

I have visited Orlando 3 separate times in April, 1 time in June and 2 times in September over the years. All I would say is try to avoid doing MK on a Saturday or Sunday. It's a bleeding nightmare on a midweek day as it is these days. Weekends are horrendous. Obviously make clever use of the fast pass but that goes without saying and early magic hours if you are able to as well.

There's some useful park fan sites that usually tell you which day will be quieter at which parks and I find them to be quite accurate actually. Easy to find on google.

As a new member I don't know if it's the done thing to recommend other websites but I found easy WDW to be the most useful when I planned our WDW trip. Loads of hints and tips, reviews of rides, shows and restaurants etc etc. Bonus tip: print off his park maps, they're a gazillion times easier to follow than the official WDW ones!

No worries :) I planned ours like a military operation and boy did it pay off - almost no queuing and did everything we wanted (including multiple rides on our favourites) in all the WDW parks on a 8 day trip. And back at work the next day!

Sounds great!
