The following rides and attractions now open from 11:00am:

Th13teen
Air
Duel
The Flume*
Congo River Rapids*
Skyride
Battle Galleons
Driving School
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Wobble World

*Obviously The Flume and Rapids already opened from 11:00am.

Some food outlets and some retail outlets have also been closed.

Cutting costs and saving money is not an option. The park has to do it - and I hate to say it, but this is possibly the best way. Although Air and Th13teen I find incredible, judging on the popularity of both as major, major rides.

This is some kind of sick joke... right? :-\

Could they pick two worse rides for late opening than Th13teen and Air? Arguably the two most popular attractions on-park? Why not a late opening for the filler rides; Ripsaw, Submission, Enterprise? Which barely garner a queue prior to that time regardless...

Not a great move, however as Air and Thirteen are my two least favourite coasters it doesn't bother me too much. Certainly better than closing early/closing Submission + Enterprise/closing the SkyRide

Air is one of my favourite rides (2nd to Nemesis)!

But, as has been said elsewhere, better later opening than having rides SBNO or closing the Skyride.

Umm, WOW! What are they actually doing? The inclusion of Air and Th13teen seems bizarre, however I assumed it is down to their higher operation costs? :-\

It's worrying that things are getting so desperate for the park...

For TH13TEEN and Air is not acceptable, the others I can cope with. With Air and especially TH13TEEN (being the focus of a smaller area) to be shut early is a disgrace. Especially since they are some of the most queued rides. I'd rather have a rides like The Blade and Rippy shut for an hour than these.

Duel I can cope with since it's peak is after lunch or late morning from coming from the Valley. Driving School is a shame but most kids start at the other side of CCL so I guess it could work.

Galleons is always dead in the morning anyway, many Skyriders don't get on until they've explored the nearby area.

Not the worst decision by far this year, but it's a bad one.

Well I suppose this was inevitable, Merlin are determined to find a way to cut costs at Towers and I suppose that it has come down to this.

Now, what would have been a much better idea would have been to open selected areas from 11am, such as Dark Forest and CCL. This is what is done at Busch Gardens Williamsburg where the Germany and Oktoberfest areas of the park do not open until 11am.

Having random rides dotted around the park not opening with all the others is just silly. And including Air and Thirteen in this like they have is rather shocking. Air in particular is a very popular ride that tends to gain a queue quickly so having this open at 11am is very strange. I guess they've just looked at how much the rides cost to run and selected a few until they've hit a target money saving number.

I've always thought of Air and Th13teen as the ones which people go to first?

Disappointing but Alton obviously have their hands tied.

In retrospect perhaps that wouldn't be as bad - just popped into my mind as one of the other "cost cutting" measures that have been attempted in the last few months.

Granted this isn't a brilliant system however it's already in place at Thorpe and BPB (some open even later there) and so it's not like this is a one off.

I don't know about PBB, but Thorpe Park don't have any of their headline attractions opening after the park itself. Starting operations on one train? Yes. But not closed entirely.

The park need supporting.

At least we still have Scarefest and Fireworks. Imagine if they had cut one of those?

Merlin give with one hand, and take away with two clenched fists and your kidneys to flog on ebay to get some extra money.

I understand they have to save some money somewhere, but yet again its a big impact upon guests enjoyment. I feel so sorry for Alton management, when basically Merlin are making them be a poor example of a theme park. They are being pushed to get guests in and then offering the guests less and less.

No ride in a world class theme park should operate selected hours. None.
What you are describing is a trip to the local park with its static fun fair rides. Not a trip to the UKs biggest theme park.

Please merlin, for the love of good, and the experience of your guests - sell up now and move on.

Well, there are other cost-cutting measures in place there such as SAW: Alive hardly ever opening - akin to Sub-Terra without actors really. And yes, at PBB the Big One opens after 11am as does the Grand National.

Well we have them to look forward to at the moment. I however sense a scaled down version of both on the cards! :'(

If Towers opening certain attractions an hour later, saves on them closing attractions completely (i.e. Skyride, Submission & Enterprise) then I'm all for the move.

I imagine it will mess with early morning queues as there will now only be a selected number of attractions available before 11am, but I'm sure it won't be that much of an issue.

My main issue is the fact these rides are all over the place.

Couldn't they just, say, open the whole of Cloud Cuckoo Land and Hex at 11?

For guests now, they are going to have to tour the park twice.
