I loved my walkman when I was growing up

My mates kids are going to get a three pack of brand new TDK D90 cassettes for christmas each, I used to swap magic mix tapes with their dad thirty years ago.
Now I need a nice red Ball Pentel for them to write the track listings with.
If they are lucky they might get a walnut and a small orange as well, with a nice shiny thruppeny bit.
They still love me whatever I get them...mum and dad don't do coasters!

My first job after a levels was at the Halifax, a good honest building society back in the day.
The chief clerk got in a row with one of the many ladies in the typing pool...lovely old collective noun there.
The argument got rather heated...he was not allowed to jump a two day queue (!) for typing a letter, so he suddenly ranted...
" You are all being replaced to three F£$¥#₩€ word processors next year anyway"...
Bit rude, but factually correct sadly.

Wouldn't take my old pennies and thruppeny bits at the bar on the Beach this afternoon...refused my very nice pound note as well.

I remember when the only way to talk to someone when you were out and about was handheld CB.
