Cedar Point: General Discussion

Apparently there has been some sort of incident involving a slow (ish) train collision on Steel Vengeance, I am trying to get more information.

EIDT: Ride evacuated, medical staff on site.

Oh dear... That's a very poor show from Cedar Point.

It's good to hear Steel Vengeance is re-opening after yesterdays incident.
But I just hope all the other rides that were closed yesterday will be available very soon.

Well that wasn't in the script...

I am a little shocked they reopened it that day, especially given its Cedar Point and they are real sticklers for all things safety.

Giving Cedar Fair's over zealous nature regarding weather (Blue Streak closed when it was spitting on my visit many moons ago); and being a peninsula, and high winds, it's no wonder many rides were closed...

I'm very surprised that Steel Vengeance reopened today, as if that had happened at Alton, the tabloids would probably have circled the park like vultures!

Well it's a different culture when it come to sensationalist "news" over there. Unless a bunch of white kids died horribly, it's not news worthy.

Certainly not the greatest opening weekend for Cedar Point, although from what I have been reading it seems like they often have staffing issues right at the start of the season.

With regards to SteVe, good to see it operating so soon after the bump, although understandably it has only been on one train. The park is closed this week but on Sunday they were giving guests timed tickets to ride it so that the queue did not become unmanageable.

:)

Cedar Point have given an update regarding Steel Vengeance. It will be running on only one train for the time being, meaning that it has been taken off the park's Fast Lane Plus ticket. They may continue using boarding passes as well, giving guests a time that they can return and enter the queue line.

RMC are making adjustments to the ride. Hopefully it won't be long until 2 train operation resumes and subsequently 3 train operation. 3 train operation has not yet happened due to a seperate problem with the Blackjack train.

:)

Hope they sort it soon, I'm there for 3 days (Friday-Sunday) next week. Saying that, Tony Clark said that its still up for the first hour for pass holders before GP so hopefully I'll get a good few rides on it over the 3 days. I think this will be my new number 1 - not seen a single bad review for it yet.

Expect queues even during ERT, especially over the weekend - Cedar Point has a lot of pass holders/hotel guests. If you beat the bulk of the crowds you should be able to get on at least once with minimal wait though

Well, we all know how teething problems affect rides!
