TowersStreet - Make Your Mark

Good evening to you all!

First of all we'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who has supported us during the creation and launch of TowersStreet. We all feel really passionately about this new venture, and your support means a lot to all of us here on the team

As you are probably all aware we’re keen to build a strong community here at TowersStreet, as we feel a solid, friendly community is the basis of a successful site. Well here's your chance to get involved, and make your mark.

We're looking for a logo to become the face of TowersStreet, and we want to offer all of you lovely people the chance to design it!

Now this logo can be practically anything you feel sums up our community (Though no naughties or rudies please!*). Let your imaginations run wild! We just have a couple of prerequisites:

• First of all it needs to be a suitable size. If chosen your logo will be used in various aspects of TowersStreet, so it's important it's flexible enough for us to work with.
  
• The final logo should be sent to us as an image, preferably JPEG or PNG format.
  
• Last, but not least, have fun!

When you’ve produced your logo you can submit it to us by sending it in an email to [email protected] with the subject Logos. Be sure to include your username in the message too so we can give you credit where needed.

The closing date for submissions is Friday 22nd June. Entries made after the deadline will not be counted, but may still be charged

After this time the team will sit down and go through all of the entries before choosing the best four design, which will be announced soon after. The final four shall them be put on display here at TS - Talk where your fellow members will be able to vote for their favourite. These votes will then be tallied, and the winning logo shall go live on TowersStreet!

We also plan on producing a bit of a feature at some point showcasing all the entries we receive in true Smart style, to show everyone our talented and passionate community.

This is your chance to make your mark on TowersStreet, and we welcome entries from everyone, no matter who you are!

As there is so much focus on community input for TS why don't the team whittle the submissions down to four and then let the community decide the overall winner?

This is a great idea!

I have got a couple of questions however:

Is there a limit to the number designs that any one person can submit?

Also, a question about Font choices: is there a standard font you want us to use or can we use other typefaces? If the latter, do you need us to tell you the Font name so TS can purchase the rights to use it in the winning design?

Good idea. Lets set an example of being a community, rather than a dictatorship like some sites.

Great idea, I will try my best to submit a logo!

Awesome idea, it's a shame I can't really do much with images or I'd have a go.

Heck why not I might just dust off MS Paint.

Sure, why not! We're all really keen to embrace the community spirit, so the more involved you all get the better! As long as everyone planning to submit is happy to have their work voted on by fellow members we can do it this way

The same deadlines still apply, and we'll update you all with further details when the time comes.

We've decided that in this instance a maximum of 5 designs per person would be best, to ensure no one gets a little too into it all and leaves us with months of evaluating to do

With regards to style and font obviously much of TowersStreet is still a work in progress. We want everyone to be as creative with their ideas as possible. If anyone wants any basic idea of what we're looking for though check out our temporary homepage, or our Facebook image.



Obviously both are a bit varied in design, but you'll probably spot a bit of a trend

BigAl! That looms amazing, you have some talent!

I love the way you included the purple corkskrews in the background!

Love the artwork, not keen on the font.

It would make a fantastic header though if you had Towers Street centered and then a few other attractions either side. I'd love to see TowersStreet adopt a similar style across the whole site. Quirky.

Any way, as for the font, it's quite easy to change and it doesn't really look like a logo because it wasn't really supposed to be one, but Joel suggested that I posted it over in here so I thought I'd may as well do so. The whole thing can be edited and I'd like to add more to it to try and make a map (somehow ).

It's brilliant! Bit pedantic but I think the sky could be a bit of a darker shade of blue - that's the only nitpick I have though ;D

What is the font you guys have used for the TowersStreet.com banner on the home page?

I said it in the shoutbox, but I'll say it again here. BigAl, your logo is superb!

and Russell, I could be wrong but the font looks like 'FF Cocon Regular' to me.


Edit: For some reason my logo has gone all blurry... That's odd.

My only thought would be to lower the 'Towers Street' into the bushes so it's not covering the Corkscrew, but it does look brilliant - far better than what i could attempt. What programme did you use to create it?

The Frogs are brill Meat Pie - potentially Towers Street mascot material methinks
