2019: Scandinavia & Snorri Touren

As much as I'm sad about this, seeing the picture from above is really weird, I can see props I recognised off YouTube, and parts of the layout, if that makes sense. If anyone can rebuild better, it's Europa.

No wonder why it was all polynesian-themed, I listened to the music on Spotify and I feel like that i'm somewhere hot like Bali or Thailand. ♪ bong bong bong, bomb-bomb, dongdongdongdongdong. ♪

To be pedantic, @DiogoJ42, Bamboo Baai wasn't Chinese. It appeared branded that way from the outside but it was always more Thai with the offerings, as they sold Thai soup, green curry and Larb Gai (chicken salad). Otherwise, they just called the item 'Asia rice' or 'Asia noodles'.

As for Piraten in Batavia itself, @MichaelTowers2001, the queue also showed the history regarding the Dutch East Indies in the video below. Unfortunately the video was filmed during Halloween season so they played the staple Beetlejuice theme instead of the usual Batavia theme.

Very good point. They did a nice thai green curry. Here's hoping it returns.... but without the show, so that those of us who just want to eat have half a chance of getting a seat.

Good to see they are considering something a little different to pirates. Although the old Disney knock off rides have some charm to them it would be nice to see them move away and do something unique (though maybe not as avant garde as an old lady dressing a load of lizards in her dead husbands clothes).

Just so long as Scandinavian ally returns *glares at Michael Mack*

Luckily the facade survived the fire after realising in the aftermath.

who else noticed on social media?

It survived, but considering everything behind it (and the other Dutch facades) got destroyed then I cannot imagine it's structurally safe. If that is the case, they should at least be able to salvage any theming they want to keep before having to demolish the facades.

EDIT:

Good news, Coffee Cups are re-opening today:

As I suspected, they have removed the theming that they want to keep from the Pirates facade and it has been partially demolished:

EDIT:

Meanwhile, Thomas Mack has posted some lovely photos from the grand opening of Pirates in Batavia in 1987:

:)

That fourth photo has me distracted now. There was yet another animatronic theatre show in the park, in the Holland area? I want to know more!

Some map research later: It's just the Euro Maus Music Revue.

Hmmm don't know why that happened. I've shared the video from Twitter instead which seems to be working.

:)

Europa-Park have posted a message in various local newspapers this morning:

Because I'm sad, I've decided to type it out as best I can in to Google Translate:

Many Thanks

We thank you very much for your response after the fire in Europa-Park last Saturday.

Thanks to the work of the emergency services and the employees of Europa-Park, none of our guests were injured. Through the gentle and quick intervention, a greater stinging effect could be avoided. We would like to wholeheartedly thank you for the great and great effort.

Of course, we are all still in shock. Especially the Attrakion Pirates in Batavia has been designed over decades with a lot of passion, passion and attention to detail.

Our guests also have many beautiful childhood memories of this attraction.

In addition, the fire could not come at a worse time, because with the large-scale construction Rulantica and the reconstruction of the French theme area, we face in the tense construction situation another great challenge.

But your personal comments give us strength, the clean-up work is in full swing and we are glad that we were able to open the Europa-Park on Sunday.

Thank you very much for reminding us, we look forward to your visit to Europa-Park

The Family Mack

:)

The video on Facebook comes with subtitles, however he's basically thanking all of the park's very loyal fans for their support over the past week, and wants things back to normal as quickly as possible so everyone can continue to enjoy the park!

:)
I saw the video on twitter but there were no subtitles on that version
