Scarefest 2018

What's all this talk of HoM being replaced?
Its only on its 2nd year and has just got into the swing of things, I assumed they would give it 2 more years at least!
Apparently it is to make way for a new younger scares attraction. HoM can only go so far, after last years i felt like it had reached its maximum. Maybe something new would be better.

Me too, its just a shame as they got the balance of scares perfect last year.
next time they want a well balanced family maze, they have to start from scratch and attempt to recrate the near perfect balance they had here (there's a chance they will remember what they learned from HoM...but I somehow doubt it (just an inexplicable gut feeling))

I was thinking, since the welcoming was less scary than HoM last year, think the welcoming might replace HoM as the family maze (In addition to whatever kids maze they add) this yeah?

I thought Scarefest 2017 was a very successful year for Alton Towers. I hope it all returns for the 2018 season and then some. The following needs to come back;

Scare Zone in Dark Forest - 13 is the perfect ride for Halloween but without having the lice actors really took away from it. Also the food courts not being open was a massive inconvenience!

Scare Zone in Forbidden Valley - Again Nemesis is massively lit in red for Scarefest which definitely looks phenomenal....however not having any live actors up that way made that end of the park seem dead and ignored.

"After Hours" Experience (Scarerooms, etc...) - Another year without any special event at the end of the day left me with a very empty feeling inside. The After Hours events were always the highlights of Scarefest and they desperately need to return in some form.

That's always a possibility, although I can't see The Welcoming returning this year on the Scarefest line up. However I can see them opening it up throughout the year due to it still being set up in the courtyard.

This picture from Attraction Images Twitter shows The Welcoming finally being dismantled. I still think we may see it return at Scarefest this year, but anytime throughout the year is now unlikley I'd say. I would imagine they only kept it up in case of any major delay, and since there won't be, are only now taking it all down. :)

Damn it, I was hoping for a opening day run through of The Welcoming haha. One can only wish I guess.

Not heard anything yet. But I'd absolutely love it for them to do something around Wicker Man. Bring back The Welcoming, and have roaming actors around Wicker Man, fire dancers, etc., like what they did for the media preview event!

I'm at AT now and saw a piece of paper outside HoM, it seems to be a list of things they are licensed (by the planning office) to do in HoM, among the list is "film exhibition"
Could that be a new scene?

Also, the monorail audio (when talking about wickerman in the dark at scarefest) played a few sec of The Welcoming music, I hope it means that it will return.

With the Towers now closed off and the containers for Sub Species back in place, are we expecting a different layout for Sub Species and also is TOTT going to be making a return this year ?

I really cant see ToTT returning, but that is said every year.
I wonder if they can fit the Welcoming into the ToTT space and make it work

I think this is the earliest they've ever closed the towers, we've not even made it to the summer holidays yet.

Must be planning something amazing......

... or just cba to open the towers.

Does anybody else reckon Sub Terror could be coming back? On Monday they was playing the announcements throughout the queue line? Seems bit odd if nothing was going to happening with. Or to it ?
I personally reckon it may open for Scarefest then again could be completely wrong who knows

I reckon this will be the best Scarefest ever if they're closing the Towers this early! Well, for those who like actors anyway.

I'd imagine one of the main reason for the Towers closing earlier every year is due to cuts. Less staff but the same/more amount of work to do means they need more time!

:)

I think they could potentially use subterror for another scare maze. It'll be good to have the mazes situated around the park and not just all bunched up in the towers area. Plus if they do decided to use the drop towers of sub-terror(ible) it would really add to the experience... So fingers crossed, highly doubt it will happen though.
