2018: Park Operations & Ride Availability

Staggered openings, early park close, ticket queues and lack of efficiency in operations seem to be a running theme on Twitter today. Three months into the season and it’s still the same issues. They really don’t care that customers are not happy about these basic problems.

It’s better than nothing

Those four words will sum up the whole season and I expect Towers regret using them now towards paying customers.

Pretty much every single group of merlin customers you can think of (RAP,VIP, day guest's, passholders) are seemingly finding this year to be pretty poor performance across the rtp's.

I have no plans to step foot in a Merlin theme park until they start running them properly. They don’t warrant the prices they charge so they won’t be getting any of my cash. It’s a very sad state of affairs, I have been visiting Towers since the 80s.

It's looking like our visit in August will be our last. I'm normally quite optimistic about things but with ERT gone (unless staying onsite), staggered ride openings, queues to pick up tickets (didn't get the option for 2 day print at home tickets when I purchased), more queues to pick up fast passes at box office, ride reliability and downtime, slow ops, non working ride effects, general state of queue lines (smiler) etc etc, I am not holding up much hope for a good visit this year.

Merlin do nothing to attract visitors from further afield, their antics so far this year have proved this. I don't think it's going to be worth our while travelling from Northern Ireland anymore.

Why do the other rides need batching hosts? I’ve never come across one on Nemesis (IIRC) and the public seem more than capable of filing the gates as required, even waiting until the gates are empty before filling.
The newer the ride the more idiotic guests behave.

I prefer rides that don't have batching hosts. I like to choose where I like to sit. I find it frustrating when you have guest wanting to sit near the front only to be put near the back, and on the same train that you get guest wanting to sit near the back only to be put near the front.

I suppose the batching host is to ensure that every seat is filled as best as possible minimising empty seats and ensuring the queue-lines are kept to a minimum, however the the removal of SRQ and reduce put through has really undermined that.

They could take the Karnan approach of randomising the row in the preshow.

I've never been beyond rows 5-7 on wickerman and enjoyed every ride so far. If people want to waste 20 minutes extra of their day to queue at the front/back, they can find me at the bar later :)

If the ride batcher on wickerman spots a red wristband then it always the back row. Which is inline with all the other coasters, except RMT that places them at the front.

Funny you say that, people in the map additional needs group and myself have been told by a few hosts that there is no assigned rap seating for wickerman.

Just for wheelchair users to make access and exiting more practical.

Can you imagine the chaos in the station for Wicker man as everyone would wait to try and get on the very back row!!

Never been a problem at other parks and pleasure beaches. When at BPPB, if the back row is taken, I'm quiet happy to take the next free seat forward. The same goes for RMT at AT.

I've rode Wicker Man back row on every single ride apart from my last visit. where I rode it 2nd row from front and the middle. I can vouch that front row is naff, but middle rows seams to pulls more of a punch that the back row

The ride controller on Icon has been very blunt in sending people away from the front and back seat gates when an additional queue forms, blocking access to the other gates.
Seen it slow down operations a couple of times already.
