Wow if people haven't read Rob's link above, definitely read it. Makes for chilling reading - They had no engineering backgrounds, no proper testing procedures, covered up injury reports or withheld them, didn't keep it maintained properly. I'm surprised it lasted as long as it did even though it was only on seasonal opening. Truly horrendous, and to think people put money and their lives in the parks hands on a ride that was basically - let see if we can build the Worlds tallest and fastest water ride. Tragic for all the people injured and the poor lad who lost his life. The worrying thing is, this thing would still probably be open today if that young lad hadn't of lost his life.

Hmm...nearly 45 year old Pinfari relocated 5 times from it's original park and now subject to salty sea air for 5 years...surely could have been foreseen?
 
Hmmm, as if we needed further reasons to not like Pinfaris.

I don't think any of those things in isolation or indeed collectively make something inherently dangerous. If they do, this industry that we cherish is pretty screwed.

Article on BBC News today about a travelling fair type ride in Nottingham:

A carriage on a city centre fairground ride crashed to the ground injuring an 18-year-old woman.

She was on the Crazy Wave ride in Nottingham's Old Market Square shortly before 21:00 BST on Sunday when the crash happened.

An eyewitness said the ride continued for about half a rotation after the fall, which he said left the woman slumped over the safety bar.

Police said the woman is not thought to be seriously injured.

Richard Gibbons, 54, of Nottingham, was watching the ride, which rotates while bouncing carriages up and down, with his 13-year-old son at the time.

He said: "It had started the dropping action and then suddenly there was a really loud noise, a loud crashing noise; the seat had collapsed on to the floor of the ride."

Mr Gibbons said the arm was still attached to the carriage but had stopped supporting it.

The Crazy Train coaster at Gulliver's World Warrington stopped mid circuit this afternoon due to a wheel apparently falling off. :eek: :oops:

  • An air ambulance and the fire service were reportedly called to the theme park
  • It is not yet know if there are any injuries after the 'wheel fell from the train'
A group of around 21 people were stuck on a Crazy Train ride at the Warrington theme park, with witnesses reporting many of them were in tears.

Footage from the park showed the ride suspended at an angle around 20ft in the air after a wheel reportedly fell off the train.

The incident happened at around 12.50pm - and a rescue mission by Cheshire Fire service was still underway almost two hours later.

An air ambulance was also called to the theme park - but it is not believed anyone suffered any injuries, the Mirror reported.

Terrified parents took to social media to describe the moment the ride halted with 21 people on board.

One user, 'LadyInRed', tweeted: 'I have never been more frightened as a parent than I am now.

'Sat here on my own whilst my child is up in the air and there's not a thing I can do.

'Should be able to take ya kids on a day out without this happening.'

She said her daughter, who has asthma, was still on the ride more than two hours later as a rescue mission began.

Firefighters reportedly began using ladders to release people from the ride at around 2.45pm.

Cheshire Fire service told the Liverpool Echo: 'They used ladders to help get to the people trapped on the ride which was approximately 50ft high up.

'They secured the carriages to ensure they were stable. A scaffolding tower was then built and those trapped continued to be freed and brought to safety.

'The line rescue team set up a twin line lowering system to rescue three people. It is not believed there are any injuries.'

The park, aimed at children aged between two and 13, consists of multiple themed areas including Lilliput Land, Gully Town and Safari Kingdom.

The park is thought to have been especially busy today because NHS staff were allowed in for free.
