Cedar Point: General Discussion

Was going to say Hotel Breakers on the website looks a lot nicer than it was when I stayed their. The express rooms from the recent vlogs look of a high standard as well.

SteVe update - it is running 2 trains again this morning!

Not calling rides by their full names is a proud TST tradition dating back years
Oh, don't I know it... it's only slightly less nauseating on the forum than when people do it verbally. Someone on this forum once announced that they were looking forward to a "Wet Nemmy" - ruined my day.

Went on my mega East Coast trip like I planned on this forum and got back last Sunday - Safe to say Steel Vengeance is my new number one coaster! Got 4 rides on it during my visits due to it being on the one train only. It rides like a dream - its fast, intense, has plenty of airtime, as well as the smooth inversions. One overlooked part of the ride is the drop off the MCBR - its great. Can't praise it enough.

Having never been on a RMC I ended up going on Steel Vengeance (Cedar Point), Twisted Cyclone (Six Flags Over Georgia), Twister Timbers (Kings Dominion) & Lightning Rod (Dollywood) on this trip. And the future is looking very bright for RMC - Especially with their Raptor/T-Rex ride type too.

My rundown of the RMC would be - Steel Vengeance, Lightning Rod/Twisted Cyclone & then Twisted Timbers.

The reason why, is Steel Vengeance is just balls to the wall impressive. Lightning Rod is good but a little shorter than I expected although the launch up the hill is great. It ties with Twisted Cyclone because TC is just a good all round fun ride, a smaller SV if you like but very enjoyable. Now, why is Twisted Timbers last? Its a good ride but its just to heavily focused on the airtime hills and after the first handful it gets to a point where it is to much force-able airtime and less enjoyable - it doesn't flow/vary as much as SV or TC.

Brilliant sounds like a superb trip. I've just found your trip planning topic and keen to do something similar. Had no idea Dollywood is only a 4 hour drive from Kings Island!

My Cedar Point plan for this year won't be happening unfortunately as I've started a new job. Next year for sure.. Wow and Norwegian have made it a much more affordable visit.

I'd like to write a full trip report on here of the full 24 day trip sometime, its just going to be when I can find the time. If you need any help with your trip, just ask matey. The driving over there isn't as bad as it would seem. You think 4/5 hour drives is bad but they really aren't, they are just nice clear roads for the most part and it's a doddle - the time flies. I'd love to do the trip again in a few years but I'm at that age were its kids/marriage now and need to look at settling.

It's just unfortunate that the little bump happened as it restricted SV to one train op while I was there otherwise I would of hammered it using Fast Lane.

Always love a bit of wet Nemmy, she rides better when she is well lubed................

haha yep I'm also approaching an age where I need to do these trips sooner rather than later. My girlfriend isn't into coasters but enjoys the general theme park atmosphere, so an american road trip with a few parks along the way will be an easy sell.

Looking forward to a potential trip report!

Cedar Point are taking Steel Vengeance off Early Entry on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays for the next 3 weeks to allow time for RMC to make modifications to the ride. It is thought that this is related to allowing for 3 train operation, so could be for installing of more brakes.

Twisted Timbers at Kings Dominion is still running only one train as well, and it seems that RMC are onsite there looking at installing more brakes.

RMC undoubtedly make some great coasters but they're also having a lot of problems. Getting the brake runs so badly wrong on SteVe and TT is concerning to say the least and Lightning Rod over at Dollywood has had endless problems since it opened (although this was mainly down to the sub-contactor for the launch, RMC contracted them so must take some of the blame).

Is it a case of pushing things too far, have they reached their limit?

Cedar Point cannot be happy that their new headline coaster is only getting 600pph on a 2 train service leading in to the busiest part of their season.

:)

Why is it that the Cedar Fair RMC projects are the ones that are having braking issues, none of the Six Flags rides seem to have had this problem.

That is a good point, and it makes you wonder if it is linked to the new RMC trains used on the Cedar Fair RMCs?

:)
