What positive things have happened this year?

So with so much negativity at the moment in all the other threads, I thought I would brighten things up a little bit and ask the question as to what positive things have towers done this year? What do you think - for you - has improved this year?

Me - the work done in the gardens on the conservatories, and the pagoda fountain (maybe that was last year), the water fountains to drink from, and improvement in food quality in RCR.

The £5 refill cup.
All the resorts all freshly painted and well themed with all effects working. They were even painting outside the Splash hotel.
It’s quite sad to see this then see how rundown most of the park really is.

Well, WM and the lovely stay and meal we had in ATH are positives, for a start. Smiler was also smoother than it was in July 2017. Those are the first ones I can think of, but I might be able to think of others...

Chicken Wraps! :D
Good call, but they arrived at least two years ago!
For me, apart from Alan, and the enforced heritage works... (dont ever think Merlin would have done them without coercion)...absolutely nothing.
The loss of single rider queues for me was the last straw.
No more money to Merlin until the next coaster.
Good old Sun vouchers for me for the next few years.

Who puts the queue times up at the entrances as only the Wickerman was close to the real time listed.
On the TLC front if it wasn’t for this site I would’ve have known what was painted/repaired as the whole park was worst(minus Wickerman area) than when I visited September last year.

I know this isn't the purpose of this topic, but I can find very little that is better this year than last.

Park may well be closing at 5.30 or 6pm more, but equally it's way busier and 6pm isn't enough on some days as queues are huge.

Rides per head is low in 2018. Queues are worse. I'd recommend Pleasure Beach to most families at present. Not because I prefer the park - I don't. But you can actually get on rides fairly swiftly unlike Alton.

  • Introduction of the new Seaosn Pass (if you can count that). I probably never would have owned a season or annual pass due to not being able to afford one however with the introduction of the Season Pass I can now say I own one!
  • Wicker Man (obviously). Probably my new favourite coaster on park just ahead of Nemesis. The theming is fantastic and hopefully Merlin will continue to theme rides to this level more often.
  • Duel TLC. Really glad they renovated the ride over the closed season instead of closing it for an entire season *cough* Hex *cough*. I do agree that it needs a bit more work done to it (trommel tunnel working, slightly better lighting) however I think it looks much better than previous years.
  • Free water fountains and free sun cream. It’s nothing huge but will save a lot of people from having to buy expensive bottles of sun cream on park or fork out a fortune for a bottle of water. Let’s hope we’ll see more things like this.
  • Not too sure if you can count this in the list but it’s been nice to see something happening to the N:ST site. Even if it is only a scaremaze for Scarefest, it will be nice to see the area used again

I agree totally with that - I went Day after opening day this year the park looked great - fast forward to last weekend at the work done already looks shabby.
