2018: Park Operations & Ride Availability

I think it would have been useful yesterday!

Wednesday was a very busy day in the park with insane queue times. So glad we had early ride time and adult/child swap passes. Thursday was slightly quieter. If you want to go when it's quiet, Sunday was very quiet as the season passes can't be used on Fri, sat and Sundays in August.
If not go in September when it's always quiet. We always go to BPB on weekends in September, no queues. Looking forward to trying icon then!

I’ve not been on Air since it became Galactica as I don’t fancy the headset and think I’d feel sick. However, I’m taking my nephew tomorrow and know he’ll want to ride. The massive queue times always put me off, but have just read that there are seperate queue lines to either ride as traditional Air or to wear a headset? Is this right? Do you get on a lot faster if riding with out the headset?

A hell of a lot faster, like walk on Vs 1hour+ queue*

No, the split is near the station, if the queue is long you have to wait the majority of it. Often there is minimal wait for non-VR rows, but if they're using the extended queue line there will be a long wait to get to the split point.

What are operations looking like this week in general? My friend has asked me for some advice (they are visiting Saturday.)
Are there any real problem areas? Rides down etc? I've told them to head straight to Dark forest as they are on normal 10am tickets and leave WM until last? Is that sound advice do you think? They won't be riding Smiler.

I've not been this week but my last few trips dark forest took a while longer to get up and running then it was supposed to

I was there yesterday and th13teen was down the entire day didn’t even bother with galactica as the queue was coming out of the enterance but wickerman opened on time! But that seems like good advice to me

With any luck they'll get in before 10 am . They opened up the non ERT gates at around 9.40 on Saturday past. From what I could see it looked like around 80% headed straight for wickerman and a lot of ERT guests would have been already in the queue.

Looking at the opening times on the official website it appears that the waterpark is scheduled for a two week closure at the beginning of November.

The annual closure usually takes place in January but this seems to follow the same format, closed for nearly two weeks with the first day reopening only between 1-6pm.

No idea why this has been changed or even if it’s significant, maybe some investment is afoot at the waterpark. Or maybe not.

Visited today (Thurs) knowing it would be busy and it was. But I have to say there were brilliant operations on all rides, especially Wicker Man - I don't think it stopped once all day. I got on every ride except Galactica (forfeited that for a second go on WM) and considering the park was the busiest I've seen it in ages (queuing out the door for Rollercoaster restaurant and Pizza and Pasta at lunchtime), all queues were decent length - no more than about an hour and I never saw any stoppages on any coasters.

Wicker Man was churning trains out very fast, never saw any restraint issues or empty trains going round. At times, the train was on the lift hill as the other was just entering the final break run.

The Smiler was banging the trains out too, I've never seen it dueling so many trains on the lift hills.

All in all, considering it was summer holidays, it was one of the best days on park for me, so if any AT staff are reading this, thank you for your excellent work!

I was there too, and concur.

Top notch operations on Wickerman and Smiler, The former much improved from earlier this year.

Special mention to Oblivion as well, i was very critical of operations earlier this year, but yesterday was great. Both stations being used, and quick dispatch meant it was walk on most of the day.

Encouraging to hear! I can see the cuts disappearing entirely next season if this season's crowd levels are anything to go by; the profit margins must be huge!
