Stargazing Pods

I think this accommodation will fill a void at Alton Towers in that it should provide a true budget option at the park. Also, it should be a way for more outdoorsy people to have a nice stay at the park!

I personally think they look nice if you like that sort of thing or if you don't have enough money to stay in the hotels or the EV. My dad, however, said that they should rename them "sheds with beds". My parents were also both rather taken aback at the rumoured pricing (£80-120 per night) that was discussed earlier in the thread, even though I personally think that's quite good compared to everything else at the Resort.

When you actually have to work for money in a job you’ll probably hate you’ll have a different outlook on value. £120 is a hell of a lot of money for a lot of families
Oh OK. Thanks for the clarification @Poopoohead; I hope I find a job I like when I'm older! But that's besides the point!

It's not though. Cheap compared to the hotels and lodges still isn't cheap. Considering you can stay in a good b&b next door to Mandyland for £20pp it's outrageous that Towers apparently want to charge multiple times that for a literal shed where you share a shower and toilet with 3 dozen other groups. It's easy to shrug the cost off when it's not you paying. That's not having a go or anything, we all hit this wall one day.

Who wants to visit a theme park hotel where you have to share the loos and showers and pay 10x than a hostel for the privilege?

Jesus all they had to do was copy Efteling and Enchanted Village would've been a perfect addition... But they went for the budget option then and this is an even more budget version of that...

It makes the Thorpe Shark hotel look like the Hilton, least there you get your own washroom...

Merlin think it will be a quirky idea with budget accommodation, but in reality it’s more like the caravan park in that episode of Father Ted.

Should’ve done what parks like Efteling and Cedar Point have done with their non hotel accommodation. Or more importantly just spent the money on the park itself and built these in a few years when there’s actually demand for it. Like there ‘might’ be for an upcharge like the Towers Dungeons.

It might be cheaper than other accommodation but it will still be more than what the hotels should be!

There's some pods now on the lawn by the Towers to show you what you'll get. Not much is the answer.

Funny comment from another guest though when walking towards them... "maybe they open up so you can see the stars?"

I've got a friend* who sometimes attends small, organised 'adult conferences', which inexplicably to outsiders, often take place at venues such as Center Parcs. After some time trying to work out what the appeal of these is, I'll be passing on news of this exciting new accomodation development.

(*Honest!)

There's more room in a telephone box

I thought the cabins were small on the cruise ships that I used to work on, that is taking the Pee

If I want cheep a cheep bed for the night, I'll kip out on one of the benches over night and I'll get some proper star gazing views :p

No way am I paying £80-100 per night for something that doesn't even have tea making supplies!

I wish they had gone with hostel-style accommodation (no en suite, but shared shower room and kitchen under the same roof), would have been much better
