I agree too. The Dipper' is still the only coaster to actually make my head physically hurt. Never rode it since. Nic Streak on the other hand is smoother and more enjoyable.
I personally enjoyed Dipper, but I found National a little too rough to enjoy, personally. I know I should really appreciate the older wooden coasters more, so I apologise for that, but I prefer rides that strike a good balance between smoothness and thrill, which is why I love Icon so much!

After falling out with Nash after a seriously painful encounter earlier in the season imagine my surprise when I rode 2nd row on Saturday and it was a delight! Trundled across to the Dipper which I usually get on with and made the grave error of sitting at the front of a carriage... it was hideous and I'm surprised i still have a spine

Must pay more attention to seat choice going forward as either I'm getting old or the woodies are fighting back ;)

Icon was, as ever, fabulous and Steeplechase was, as ever, ruddy painful! I still love the place though and keep going back for more :p

Current Platinum Pass holders might want to get as many visits in between now and the end of the season. I've a feeling it's going to be a lot more expensive next year..

What makes you think a pass renewal will jump from £80 (the lowest it was offered at for current season) to ‘nearly £200’ ? One new ride doesn’t justify that. Especially as they lost a classic the same year. I know nearer to season start they are around £170 but for renewals, surely not a massive leap in price?

Pass holders just aren't their focus though dippy.
Never have been. My visits work out at about four quid a time, most others pay twenty or thirty.
I think they will put them up to about one twenty in the sale, maybe a tenner off for renewals.
And where has your pretty picture gone then temleh?!

Well let's look at what else has happened.

Parking has gone to £18 with no improvement's to the service offered.

The PPR prices have gone to levels of insanity, £15 for Icon!

The season pass prices are £189.60 without a renewal discount, and they are under no obligation to discount them. Word on the street is the days of discount may have been and gone.

If season passes are much more this year than previous years, we won't be able to justify having them. With the cost of travel and accomodation involved in our visits it just isn't viable.

With a reduction in rides, one of the best coasters gone and atrocious customer service at times, I don't think they are very well placed to make a substantial increase without seeing a huge reduction in repeat custom.

They would also be alienating their most regular visitors, the ones who give them free coverage online and/or secondary spend in the park.

BPB seem so far up themselves these days, it's sad.

Pass holders may well indeed ‘not be their focus’, but some form of renewal discount for loyalty is fair. Obviously until anything is actually confirmed we won’t know, but if the renewal price is set to double or more than that is a real kick in the teeth for pass holders, and I too will have to seriously consider if it’s worth the new price.

Rob, not all pass holders can go as often as you do. For those nerds who practically live at the park, even a raised price will still represent decent value for the amount of time they go. We can’t all visit at the drop of a hat, and for those who go let’s say 5-10 times a year, a massive increase wouldn’t be worth getting a season pass for, when you can get 10 day advance tickets cheap. I would fully expect an increase due to Icon, but maybe £20. The prospect of the renewal price doubling, or more, is frankly ridiculous.

As Jamie has said, though we don’t give the park huge amounts of money in park entry, we are still buying food, drink, merchandise, renting lockers, etc whilst there. Surely alienating season pass holders is not a good idea, given that allegedly they didn’t get in as many GP punters as hoped this season either.

I'm heading on Saturday for the first time this year and currently expecting poor weather. Given the wet weather guarantee is pointless to me as I probably won't be able to head back, what big attractions don't run in harsh Blackpool inclement weather? (If you say Wallace and Gromit is shut, I'm staying at home :p)

TIA

High winds may shut the Flying Machines and High westerly winds will slow down and potentially shut the Big One. Other than that nothing shuts unless it's extremely bad, in which case Steeplechase can dip along wit the Revolution.

I'm not sure what it takes to shut Icon, and going by it stalling a few weeks back I don't think BPB do yet!

The woodies will run better with water on the track though ;-)

Well said sir. It would be wise for some folks round here to remember that this also goes for Towers for a lot of us as well. Or for anyone's local park, come to think of it.

This whole idea of it 'going up' may not happen. With some clever merlin style wording they can sell the passes at the same price they have been for years (£189.60) just scrap the renewal discount or black Friday deal.

Let's see what happens when no one complies.

Don't think it will happen.
Hundred quid I reckon.
Two new requests.
I've struggled to find a photo of the old square heads front of the river caves...anyone oblige?
And, anyone know what year the ramp and drop went in on the river caves...my guess would be mid seventies.

I also rode in seat 2 on nash a few days ago and I couldn't believe how smooth it was. If it rode like that every time it would be a great coaster.

Unfortunately you can't always pick your seat and you generally get battered !!
