I love it, haha. Get people to upgrade their day ticket to an Alton season pass and probably get them to agree to receive marketing etc, then slip 'em some adverts to upgrade that pass to a slightly better pass. Ease 'em in gently. Good effort :D

To be honest it seems a pretty decent offer, I asked at the start of the season if I could upgrade my nephew's pass to a map and was told no-nice to see that's changed

I love RideTimes because it means 20-30 times a day I can look to see how long people I've never met are waiting to go on rides. If it ever went down I don't know what I'd do. Probably go to Alton Towers, which is my second favourite thing to do after checking RideTimes.
Glad I'm not the only one who does that outside the park lol! :)

I wonder how many people ask that and someone said "hang on. We are missing a trick here. Lets give them an upgrade offer for next year map to boost sales"

Didn't think of that, thinking about if if they had planned this wouldn't they have also mentioned the price to upgrade to pmap?

That’s actually a really good offer and Merlin keep hold of the new passholders for another season.

No it's not, a standard map is £129 out of the sales iirc.
An Alton pass was £49, now they want another £99 to give you a standard MAP.

Would be cheaper to buy the MAP off the bat, but it's a great deal for Merlin, they get to sell you a MAP for £148 lol

Looks like they are desperate to retain their season pass holders after p****** them off with such shambles of a season full of poor park operations and mega queues.

It was £55 actually.

Even worse deal then.

And also the offer gives the buyer a brand new 12 month MAP for cheaper than even the sale prices in January - it's not just for the remainder of their season pass. It even appears the start date can be any time up to six months from now.

Its not cheaper though, it's more expensive because you've paid £154 total for it, whereas a brand

If it was cheaper, it would be around £75 to upgrade, not from £99.

Was there today, absolutely rammed. Overflow car park full as well. To be fair, operations were very good today. Hardly any ride downtime either.

Even Nemesis was using the overflow queueline (left turn and up the hill when you go in). But queuetimes weren't bad. 70 minutes on The Smiler was 35 - and 90 mins on The Wickerman was only 45. So happy about it today given how busy it was. Even the rain didn't put too much of a damper on it

nice evening here in the theme park, completely different place at night mostly quite, and dark apart from a few security lights by towers street, and the glow from the advertising screens, now showing Merlin group safety messages to staff: drive with flashing beacons on, 20mph speed limit etc but mostly just the moon reflecting on the lake by the towers for light, almost pitch black.

If you don't mind being nosey a photo or two of the screens wouldn't go amiss!

just the usual dull safety notices, "Merlin protecting the magic, health safety and security"

I just checked, it's only £99 for a family upgrading else it's £119
