Looks like Big One's transfer track is broken again.

Broken midweek but not at weekends? ;) Feels like ages since I've been on it. It has been supposedly closed midweek, last week and the week before it, whilst the old Ocean Boulevard monorail platform was pulled down, due to its proximity to The Big One's first drop. Said platform had been partially demolished at close last Tuesday, anyone know if its fully down yet?

I noticed last week that on back to back days, on Ghost Train the cycling skeletons were stationary. Had to check the spelling there, I always get them mixed up, though some cycling skeletons stationery would be cool :) Also, the creepy crawly conveyor belt wasn't moving forwards. I'm turning into @Coaster ! Really though, for some reason I really like that crypt room, I think the combination of that rattling noise that comes from the left, quickly followed by the conveyor belt hissing, tilting and moving forwards makes for a good section of the ride. Its a bit of a let down when the belt doesn't move. I must be getting old as I find that gargoyle that jumps up before the drop blooming annoying, same goes for the stupid blinding white light in the tunnel, oh and the siren at the end. Otherwise its a great ride :D

I'm here but not a clue if it's been demolished or not. Guess you can only see from the PBE or Big One surely? View's blocked from all other directions.

Judging from all the recent comments about Big one not running and other ride defects it does seem as though the park are fully into "Can't Be Arsed" mode, especially during the week.

Bit naughty using that wind sign as the excuse.

majority of this year they've been in that mode

StationEry has an E for Envelope dippy.
That was part of my teacher training...shame I only lasted half a term as a teacher!
Monorail station is a convenient excuse for not opening the Big One...and the winds this afternoon weren't sufficient to close the ride...20mph was the estimated maximum on the coast this afternoon.
I suppose the train that is on the track has "slow" wheels, and with a "faulty" transfer track, that means they can't run what is still their signature ride.
Very poor, even for a happy clapper.
Though to give them credit, I haven't had many issues with operations overall this year, apart from the mouse being closed on all my visits so far this year.

Are they having technical problems with the Big One? I was at Pleasure Beach just over a week ago and there was a train stopped on the lift for a while. My brother was in the queue and was advised to leave, although the lift did restart about 10 minutes later.

That is usually because some bloody idiot has their mobile phone out.
Happens on just about every visit.
The coaster operators now all check for mobile misuse, easy from the Big One, the Dipper staff often stick their head over the mini lift hill to check, if they have been tipped off by the platform staff.
It was Avalanche and National last week.

The fact that it has ceased to exist may have something to do with this. Sadly, you have to accept that the Wild Mouse has

;)

Very clever Dave. I don't think Rob has even accepted the reel has gone yet !!

I have framed my photo of me and my son on the mouse and its on my bedroom wall, so I will now be able to cry myself to sleep every night

I have a few ride parts from Wild Mouse. A few of them were bought whilst the ride was still open. Since it closed, the running wheel, mushroom wheel, chain dog & safety ‘T’ bracket I already had have doubled in price!

Post ‘dismantling’ (BPB’s word, not mine!) I also got an anti roll back dog, a wheel pin, block of wood and a chain link. The only one I paid slightly silly money for was the chain link, but it is pretty cool and doubles as a phone cradle. Also the anti roll back dog is kind of mouse shaped, which is nice.

I like the fact that the wheels I’ve got have clearly been used on the ride. When the post-closure wheels (all clearly spares that sadly never made it onto the mice) went up in the shop this Spring they were new and shiny and have now rusted to hell. Mine, whilst clearly used, have been de-rusted, oiled & look very nice.

Oh, and the purchase of said items is an important part of the grieving process for me! :D When I’ve moved house I plan to put a couple of parts and photos in some kind of box frame

Even I haven't ridden the Velvet Coaster though Diogo!
Don't think anyone alive claims that cred.
Look it up quick someone.

According to coasterpedia.net, the coaster closed in 1932 so 86 years ago, so in theory anyone aged about 95 or older from the blackpool area stands a chance.

http://oldestinbritain.nfshost.com/living.php shows a Mrs Ida Mary Tatlow who is 107 years old residing in Blackpool. So I'm sure there must be someone alive who has ridden the Velvet Coaster...

She's lived to 107 though, so the likelihood is she hasn't ever ridden any of the coasters at Blackpool. I doubt she'd even have seen the 90's (the 1990's that is) if she'd been thrashing the woodies like some do on here ;)

If you would like to evidence an actual rider Matty, I would happily take them to the Velvet Coaster for a pint and meal on me!
There are many many elderly people who move to the Fylde coast in retirement, who did not reside there during their working years. The area is quite a biddy farm.
I think the Fylde area now has more residents who are not born locals than sandgrowners.
And Blackpool residents die earlier than in any other area in the country...source Gazette November 2017.
And I thought coastereering is meant to be healthy?
