Thanks very much @ringo! Admittedly, there doesn't look to be as much theming as there is in the other accommodation offerings at the Resort, but it looks nice for a budget option, in my opinion! Besides, I'm sure Merlin Magic Making are hiding some other thematic touches; they were in the Enchanted Village show lodge!

All in all, it should be good as a budget offering, and I'm optimistic that Merlin are hiding other touches from the show pod!

The door's quite nice... er... that's all I can say I like about it at the prices they are charging!

Your unwavering devotion to Merlin is almost admirable. You would make a good Vorta in The Dominion.

What is that hanging from the ceiling, is that the light? Any tall people just mind your head

At least you have plenty of space under the beds to store all your bags and stuff. (Disclaimer, I had to put in the last line as I've been told that I need to inject some positivity into my posts ;))

Recently rewatched this classic. (Its worth a watch if you haven’t already seen it, Andrew Hollingsworth is like Francis Jackson before he was even a thing)

It got me thinking of how well thought out the first accommodation offering Alton towers added was. Maybe if they’d made a video about all the others and these new pods I’d say the same. But, you can see how well they considered what they needed and also the little touches to make the hotel magical. I recently stayed at the ATH for the first time and was really impressed by the little bits of themeing.
These pods look unimaginative inside and not very well thought out! I think that Merlin really need to consider why, how and the magical little touches to add when building their next accommodation, like tussauds did when building the ATH. It seems like the a days they just whip up this accommodation and hey presto another hotel or lodge!

And ATH is now nowhere near the quality it was once. Would be interested to see if they achieve their then target occupancy levels now

They look really spacious in this video...

And it's almost like they're responding to the negativity in this thread:
These three Pods are currently on show in the lawns in front of The Towers. But don't worry if you think they look a bit plain ... they're not fully dressed yet and there will be more Alton magic to come!!

The comments on that YouTube video are great. Here are the top comments at the moment:
  • So, where does the stargazing part come in?
  • A shed with a telescope outside.
  • Claustrophobia at it’s finest!
  • Could've bought a flat-ride and would be more popular, raise more money, and attract far more visitors than these!
  • There is a millions things wrong with these pods. And I will list them soon a video
  • I love you dearly, Alton Towers, but this is a shed. :tearsofjoy: You can't stargaze if you've closed off the entire roof!
Have a look here for more.

Wide Angle lenses do wonders.

If they are not finished then they shouldn't be on show? That's got to do more harm than good?

It's like Bellway Homes having a show house thats just a pile of breeze blocks. :p

It's more like they've heard/read/seen the negativity on them and have decided to roll out the 'not yet finished' banners, upgraded theming will no doubt include an Alton Towers sticker detailing how much you'll be charged if you nick a pillow (£15 iirc from the hotel).
