Universal Orlando (Studios/IOA/Epic Universe) : General Discussion

Already, there has been some more progress with the installation of theming either side of the track! Things seem to be moving at a fairly rapid pace. :D

Really trying to avoid any updates on this but can't resist the temptation.

I'm no Potter fanboy but Forbidden Journey was Taron levels of wow factor for me, mainly as I had literally zero idea what it was beforehand.

As a coaster enthusiast it's not going to match a B&M layout and train but as an overall experience I think its going to pull in huge crowds and be a real hit for families. Harry Potter at the end of the day isn't really just aimed at thrill seeking age. My little lad will be very excited to ride this in a few years.

A launched wing rider in the Jurassic World area would be really cool too. Can definitely see them going for that before Busch gardens gets one as it will be unique to Florida.

Tenner says the name is "flight of the Cornish Pixi*".

* If that is what those blue things are? Sorry Potter geeks, I'm not one of you. ;)

I'd imagine it would be something more generic like "Hagrid's Forest Adventure" (presuming, as rumoured, there is some major Hagrid tie-in). Certainly couldn't contain "Forbidden Forest" as would be too similar to their one major ride, and they've also already utilised "Flight" in the kids coaster.

Just booked a random trip to Orlando for the 27th of this month to do the parks for the first time (did the Hollywood park about 6 years back). It'll be interesting to see the Potter coaster in the flesh and I'll be sure to get some pics for you all, but I wonder if there will be any more expansions to the Wizarding World for a while or if they'll wait for a new park to expand the IP presence at the parks.

I hope not personally. What they will have once the new coaster opens is sufficient for me. Don't get me wrong I don't mind Potter and the rides are top quality but I'd rather them focus elsewhere now. So many other IP's they could explore now for a bit.

Rumour around the Florida scene is that Fear Factor might be removed and the long rumoured Ministry of Magic attraction might be taking its place

(Can’t remember where I read this sorry)

It's well past its sell by date but I hope they opt for something other than an extension to the potterverse personally.

I believe that this is what they are planning on doing to complete the Potter themed worlds in both IOA and Studios.

A lot of Universal's plans got thrown up in the air with all of Disney's D23 annoucements last year though and leaks are less forthcoming.

:)

What I have been hearing is the next projects following next years coaster will be a thrill coaster for the Jurassic Park area, featuring a 150ft+ High element and launch. There are markings all over the area.

Then Pokemon will takeover the kids area at the Studios with a new major dark ride and some supporting attractions (ET will remain). Plus they are working on longer term plans for Zelda to take over the lost continent area of IOA.

There have been rumours that The wizarding world will be represented in the planned third park and be based on Fantastic beasts and where to find them.

However as always plans change especially with Disney’s current plans in Orlando.

Universal really like their launches, don't they? If that's accurate then across both parks they'll have five launched coasters! No complaints from me though, it sounds like this could be pretty special.

Isn't the Nintendo stuff going to be in the third park now, or have I misunderstood?

I believe it's going to have presence at both existing parks, similar to Harry Potter, with a Pokemon area rumored for Florida and a Zelda re-theme for Lost Continent.

They will then build the actual Nintendo world area in the third park that will feature the Mario Kart ride plus some other rideable attractions, most likely also including a Donkey Kong family coaster.

It’s certainly an exciting time in Orlando over the next 5 years with huge expansion going on across all the parks. As reminder of the huge amount of announced projects and those rumoured for next 5 years in addition to previous mentioned universal rumours-

Star Wars Land (feature 2 E ticket rides) Hollywood studios: 2019

Sky Liner (DW) 2019
Harry Potter coaster (IOA): 2019
Terminator replacement (universal): 2019
New illuminations (epcot): 2019
Tigres (Busch) 2019
Sesame Street (Sea World) : 2019
Ratatouille (Epcot): 2020
RMC (Busch) 2020

Rumoured:

Shanghai.
-replacement ride at magic kingdom for stich
- Mexico boat ride at Epcot rethemed to Coco
- couple of possibilities being Explored for Animal Kingdom- either expansion of pandora with another major ride or Indiana Jones area to replace Dino USA areas
