Scarefest 2018

Code:
xxxxxyz[shop]xxxxxxxxx[station]
xxxxxyz[shop] xx[station]
Person z stopping at the shop creates a gap in the queue but ultimately makes no difference to the order of the queue and doesn't mean person y will be waiting any longer. As soon as they're served they'll move up to the back of the queue and be at the same place they were if they hadn't used the shop.

^ everybody who ever visits Towers need to read and understand that post.

Always a good psychological boost if you get to the shop realise the queue is 20 min shorter than you thought it was.

If someone stops at the queue line tuck shop, I just simply pass by them and then let them back in front of me once they have made there purchase.

Didn't the bagging holds used to create the same problem? o_O

Sorry might be off topic but happened at scarefest
We joined the WM queue at closing time advertising 2 and a half hours.
Ride went down due to “adverse weather”
Ride came back into operation
Continued queuing slowly to around the 45 minute point.
Queue then moved and continued to move all the way up past the shop and then we just kept walking and finally reached around the 15 minute point all in a matter of about 2 minutes.
Does anyone know what could have happened? I know at the end of the night they cram as many people into the pre show as they can but I still can’t understand how a 150 minute queue turned into around a half an hour queue.

I presume that due to the ride was down that the front half of the queue line left to go on other rides as priority passes were given out to them. The only down side, is that when they return later once the ride re-opens, the fast track queue line will be just as long as the normal

This was queue close though. It was well past 9 when the ride went down. Unless they all just went home :tearsofjoy:

There was a staff member stood outside the shop, looked suspiciously like they'd been holding people there to make the queue look longer.

If this was the same day it looked like security to me and I even asked her are we being evacd

Absolutely this.

There's no harm in waiting a minute or so. If anything it's a bonus as you get to walk further forward in the queue when they're done.

Exact same thing happens every night at Scarefest. After ride close the queue begins to move ridiculously fast whereas in the 20 minutes before ride close it is not moving. BPB tactics, should expect better from Alton Towers.

Isn't that because the Fastrack and RAP entrance have closed? Although there is probably also more incentive for the staff to work quicker as they want to go home!

As we always do WM last thing and have done all season we’ve come to notice that they work insanely fast at queue close.
Pretty sure we counted nearly 90 people in the pre show the other week.
Also even if there is a massive queue behind you, the queuline is empty when you’re going up the lift hill. I feel if they worked like that all day the queue wouldn’t be above half an hour:tearsofjoy:

Anyway back to scarefest, I have three visits left and would really like to find galactica airways. Does anyone know what time they are about doing their thing? As I’ve only seen them going on break

Queues ALWAYS move quicker after ride close because it's the only thing being used...

Jesus some people are really desperate to shout CONSPIRACY...

Moving faster is one thing.

Walking from the queue line entrance of Wicker Man where you've been stood static for 20 minutes prior to ride close to the pre-show in about 2 minutes after ride close is completely different.

In cases like "The Smiler" where the shop separates from the main queue line, or Wodan where the toilets separate from the main queue line, I feel you and your group should wait at the side and rejoin the queue at its current position. Don't push past to get back to where you were, your queue is realistically no longer.

The exact same thing happened to me a few weeks ago!

Queue advertised at 90 minutes, got in the gate just before it shut, Queue moved as you would expect until we got to where the shop is, and then - all of a sudden - people almost jogged the rest of the way to the station building. The 90 minute queue was only about 35 all in all

We saw them everytime we were in FV, around when it was dark, (8-9pm) dusk time (5-6pm) and after lunch (1ish) which was lucky
