Europa Park wants to build a cable car to connect France to its theme park

The famous German amusement park wants to build a cable car between Europa Park and France. An agreement was found between his management and Emmanuel Macron.

It is a titanic project still kept secret until now. The owners of the Europa Park leisure park , located in Rust (Germany), about 60 kilometers from Strasbourg, want to build a cable car to the border .

According to Les Dernières Nouvelles d'Alsace, this transport infrastructure must cross the Rhine on the border between France and Germany.

An agreement was found between Roland Mack whose family runs the site and Emmanuel Macron. The French president received the head of enterprise Sunday evening at the Strasbourg prefecture where he was making a trip dedicated to the "Franco-German reconciliation" .

The cable car will leave the park and cross the Rhine

This future cable car would leave the park, according to the regional daily. For the moment, the cost of such a project, its method of financing and the date of its commissioning are not yet known.

Europa Park, which welcomes more and more French visitors to its theme park, has been involved in an investment race in recent years. At the end of 2019, a gigantic water park will come out of the ground . It must attract at least 600,000 visitors and allow the site to exceed six million annual visitors. A sixth hotel with 1,300 beds is currently under construction.

Woah. What the smeg‽ That's an insane idea that only EP could come up with! I wonder whereabouts in France it will stop? Strassbourg would be a bit too far, I think...

Disney 2017: Check out our new aerial gondolas, they're going to go between some of our parks and hotels

Europa 2018: Hold my beer

I'm lost on this one, I really really am! It'll be interesting to hear some sort of detail tomorrow!

People have been complaining for years that the park's depiction of France isn't good enough, so this will finally shut up the haters! At a cost of several hundred-million euros.

The question is.....

What's in it for the park?

Surely something will be built the other end of the cable car?

Google says the world's fastest cable car is 21.6kmph and the distance to Strasbourg is 60km.

So you could watch a full Lord of The Rings film on the journey.

Blimey, it would take 3 hours to get there then? If it was the fastest in the world? I'd love to see this happen, but it'd cost a fortune and wouldn't be the quickest way into the park.

I assume the cable car will simply leave the park and cross the Rhine. Nowhere does it mention going to Strasbourg... that would be insane.

I wonder, does a high speed train run alongside the French side of the Rhine? Or at least a train that connects directly to Strasbourg? This could be a very clever way to simplify the journey for foreign guests (like us :)).

There's a local train station about 4km away and a shuttle bus service, according to the website. I have no idea what line it's on though.
