General Hotel Discussion

I do hope the Stargazing Pods camp village is sponsored by Crufts - as it will be very easy to walk your dog when you need a wee in the night / shower in the morning. It would also indicate where the park is going in general, i.e. to the dogs!

We should open a book on the percentage of the pods that will have rotting back walls within the first season where guests decided not to avail themselves of the walk to the central facilities block and just went "somewhere private" for a wee instead.

Back in 1999/2000 when the "Beast wooden fence" was next to the Ripsaw arcade & the disused Beast site, you'd often get guests asking where the toilets were. You directed them to Skyride maindrive & more than a few would just look round and find a quiet spot (often in the "wooden tunnel" that was near the monorail track) and relieve themselves against the fence in full view of anyone nearby to avoid the walk to Skyride.

Two people first thing in the morning
"I see you have a bottle of Lucozade"
"Its not lucozade"

The "central facilities block" is a recipe for people using any hedge / the back of the pods - especially given the somewhat inclement weather we often enjoy & some of the clientele that Alton Towers attracts.

Also hope the Stargazing Pods are well anchored to the ground or I can see a few going AWOL over Easter weekend. If you put them on wheels they would sort of look like a mini traditional traveller caravan. Ideal for training the young traveller in their traditional lifestyle!

I think they wont go that far. When it raining sideways. I think one of these would be the most comfortable

Do a Bear Grills and keep your piss bottle on hand to use as a hot water bottle. Something tells me these sheds might get a bit chilly.

Just had an email offering 20% off the Santa sleep over. Must be selling well, never had this before. This is our first year in a while not going due to last year being absolute garbage.

Maybe people are finally getting sick of sky high price for next to nothing

I don’t have kids so wouldn’t actually do a Santa trip.

I’ve not looked too closely at prices for different dates but the headline price for Santa Sleepover (£199 for family of four in one room) looks pretty good value if your kids are right age to believe the magic. Dinner, breakfast, Santa, waterpark and CBeebies land as well as accommodation seems okay.
Probably a better deal than a lot of the winter wonderland things that get put up in a field and don’t actually have quality entertainment.

Of course I bet it’s actually £300 for a lot of the dates.

The Early bird offer is on 40% off the Merlin Holiday Club,

Prices even with the 40% off for the resort accommodation have gone up a lot, probably priced Jess and me out.

Buyer beware! 2019 park cuts may apply!

At least they’re sticking to the reliable Merlin formula. Prices up, quality down.

Gotta pay those dividends somehow.

The prices have change since I last posted. They are a lot lower, some great discounted, so I managed to get a good deal for the scarefest. However for the fireworks Saturday, the only hotel discounted through the holiday club is the Splash Landings

Latest Terms and Conditions when checking in, now require a £50 refundable deposit when checking in

It's hilarious because nothing in those hotels is worth £50 in the first place.

I just realise why the prices were very high in my first search and then lower in my recent search. looks like the higher prices included the price of park tickets with the stay, my mistake

There is NOTHING in that shed worth £50. You could torch the bloody thing and get change from £50.
As long as your personal affect are not in it.
