How many different number 1 attractions have you had?

Mako (SeaWorld Orlando)
Hi guys. Sorry if there's already a thread like this, but this thread is to discuss how many different number 1 attractions you've had through the years. I don't care what sort of attractions they are; they can be roller coasters, dark rides, water rides, flat rides, transport rides or even car rides into a park for all I care! Or they can be a mix! As long as they've been your number 1 at some point in time, I don't care what sort of attraction they are! I'll firstly get the ball rolling with mine:
My Number 1 Attractions Since Becoming An Enthusiast
  1. Rita (Alton Towers) (28th September 2013-27th July 2014)
  2. Stealth (Thorpe Park) (27th July 2014 for a couple of hours)
  3. The Swarm (Thorpe Park) (27th July 2014-22nd August 2016)
  4. Montu (Busch Gardens Tampa) (22nd August 2016-23rd August 2016)
  5. Mako (SeaWorld Orlando) (23rd August 2016-present)
As you can probably see, all of my number 1 attractions have been roller coasters. As much as I love dark rides, water rides, flat rides and all of the other rides in a theme park, roller coasters are my favourite type of theme park ride. And my tastes in roller coasters have certainly changed over the years!

So, how many different number 1s have you guys had over the years?

Whilst I’ve never been one to create “top 10” lists and the like, I have had a couple of favourite coasters over the few years I’ve been interested in theme parks. :)

Air
– October 2014, my first ever time visiting Alton Towers as part of a Physics school trip. Air was my first inverting coaster. And honestly, we were all absolutely blown away be how unique a experience it was. It wasn’t the most thrilling of rides (heck, even Spinball was probably more thrilling!), but there was something about it that I genuinely loved. It stayed my favourite coaster until they rethemed it to Galactica added a gimmick it didn’t need in 2016.

Nemesis – to be honest, I first rode Nemesis in 2015, and yet it didn’t become my favourite coaster until a year later. My first impressions were wow, that was intense and than having to sit down on the rocks outside the photo collection to prevent myself from falling over. :tearsofjoy: The coaster experience was there, but at the time the thematic experience had long worn away, which is probably why it didn’t become my favourite coaster until a year later, after the restoration scheme had begun. It remains my favourite to this day despite Wicker Man closing the gap and coming very close to being my favourite.

Nemesis (-2010) / Montu (2010-2013) / El Toro (2013-2018) / Steel Vengeance (201:cool:

:)

Manta SWO was my first No1 just because it was my first ever coaster. I went through a few different number ones including Mako which I've ridden so many times now it's kinda boring. It's a great coaster though.

I guess it's due to re-rides and getting used to a coaster too much. The first few times on a good ride that I've never experienced before it's like 'wow this is my number one now' but after a load of times on it I get bored so it takes something special to stay at the top of the list.

Kumba at BGT is my number one. Old school B&M at it's best and as intense as a coaster needs to be.

None of Alton's coasters have hit my number 1 spot.

Incredible Hulk (2005-2010)
Forbidden Journey (2010-2014)
Wodan (2014-2016)
Taron (2016-)

Nemesis (-2016) / Helix (2016-2017) / Katun (2017-present)

Just to note I did ride quite a lot up to 2016 including everyone's favourite Shambhala, EGF, Wildfire, Twisted Colossus, Montu etc but nothing I felt actually outdid it up until Helix.

Kraken (2002-2014) / Wodan (2014-2016) / Formula Rossa (2016) / Eejanaika (2016 - same trip as Rossa)

Corkscrew (2002-2005)
Nemesis (2005-2010)
Valhalla (2010-2013)
The smiler (2013-2015)
The swarm (2015-2016)
Tower of terror (2016-2017)
Shambhala (2017-sept 2018)
HP and the forbidden journey (sept 2018-Oct 2018)
Anddd as of October 2018 its a tie between x2 and full throttle.

Pre-1998: Vampire.
1998-2014: Nemesis.
2014+: Oz'Iris

Honorable mentions go to The Ultimate in 2008, and Mindbender (West Edmonton Mall) in 2014, both of which came very close to stealing the top spot, losing out only due to the pain they can induce after repeated rides.

(2015 - 2018 March) Oblivion
(2018 March - 2018 July) Wicker Man
(2018 July - 2018 October) ICON
(2018 October - 2018 November) Shambhala
(2018 November - Present) Red Force

Pre-2009: I'm really not sure, looking back probably Nemesis (Alton Towers)
2009 - 2011: Manta (SeaWorld Orlando)
2011 - 2018: El Toro (Six Flags Great Adventure)
2018 - present: Steel Vengeance (Cedar Point)

I did have Apollo's Chariot as my number one for a while but looking back that was probably more of a fanboy number one as El Toro is miles better!

Not sure on the years and there's a good chance the earlier ones probably changed with each park visit as well . Grand National (BPB), Tower Of Terror (Camelot), The Big One (BPB), Nemesis (Alton Towers), Top Thrill Dragster, Millennium Force, Maverick (Cedar Point - probably changed about 3 times during that trip before settling on Maverick), Taron (Phantasialand).

in reality it's difficult to work out earlier years but I loved Grand National as a kid so I'm classing that as a starting point. Don't think I'd ever referred to anything before Maverick as my number 1 coaster though.

Scorpion Express (2014-2016)
TH13TEEN (2016-2018)
Wicker Man (2018-2018)
Saw: The Ride (2018-2018)
Nemesis (2018-present)

Nemesis was my number one for quite a while and I always said it would take a ride that was just as fiendishly clever to usurp it from the top spot.

Helix did that and became number one and then in turn Ride To Happiness took its crown and currently sits at the top of the pile.

Notable mentions to Untamed and Zadra which were both serious contenders that nearly nicked it.

The Ride to Happiness By Tomorrowland 2023-?

I desperately need to head out to Poland or the states and jump on an RMC. But even then, it'll take some serious doing to knock off RTH as a complete experience. I'd also like to return to Phantasialand as Mamba was the flagship coaster last time I visited so have some catching up to do!

Notable mentions: KingdaKa & Skyrush

As much as I love coasters, and I really do, the older I get the more I steer towards dark rides being my favourite ride type.

Jaws
Alien Encounter
Tower of Terror
Spiderman
Haunted Mansion
Phantom Manor
Pirates
Forbidden Journey

All of the above hold/held a special place for me and Tower of Terror was definitely my overall number 1 attention for a while for sure.

And I am still yet to experience some of the more modern ones such as Millennium Falcon and ROTR and obviously can't wait for Monsters Unleashed at Epic Universe which definitely has potential to be my number 1 attraction I reckon.

This is the great thing about this amazing hobby. Your tastes change as you get older and sometimes you forget just how amazing rides you have done previously are.
