I hope they build a new toilet block on Wild Mouse's site. That way I can take a turd on its grave each visit until it stops being dragged up on here in every way possible ;)
Come on Danny , get with the programme. This thread is only to be used for the following 3 subjects...

Opening/Closing Times
Operations
Wild Mouse

It's almost like they want to look like angels to park management...

I've also seen a lot of stuff like "An absolutely great day" only to see that that is referring to having fun with the company they were with which seems a very odd way of reviewing a day. It's like saying I was stuck in a cave for two weeks but I had some great company, still doesn't make the situation any less dire / bleak.

Surely, any time you go anywhere you should be with people you enjoy being with...

Well of course it makes a difference who you’re with.

People are just saying they enjoyed their days. Everyone has admitted that the operations at the park were poor and, if that’s the be all and end all for you, then yes it will have been a bad day. But most people just don’t think like that.

It’s like when I queued 4 hours for Wickerman on opening weekend with it breaking down several times. I could have let that ruin the day but I visited with some great people and therefore have some great memories of that weekend.

Oooh look a new fence, oooh look Rev has been given a new paint job (zooms in to see old paint still there) well some of it anyway. Anything not to cover the reality of a shambolic start eh Club Pleasure Beach :(

Yeah I noticed that as well, they don’t wanna upset Mandy do they.

What are you talking about? The last 7 mins of the video is them talking about how bad the operations were and recommending you DON'T go yet.

This has been by far the worst opening weekend I have seen in over 30 years of visiting. Never before have the waits been such a combination of long and slow (long and quick maybe before) but this was something else. To see the food stall over from the Maze with 12-15 people waiting with one person serving says it all. They have made far too many cuts across the park, the maintenance dept have had hours slashed in the weeks leading up to opening and they are not prepared as a result. Now that didn't happen a decade ago. Even as recently as a decade ago, not even in the haydays of PPR, they week before park opened the rides ran constantly, not 2-3 laps here and there.

And then you hear of people rewarding this kind of sloppy goings on by buying speedpass, thus rewarding and encouraging these shenanigans and making the situation worse for everyone else.

I didn’t make it through the whole vid and as luck would have it stopped when they went off for food towards end. But having skipped to the end, yes they do talk about social media and how everyone is saying how bad it is - makes a change for them.

When did speedypass on opening weekend become a thing? I always thought it wasn’t available on WoW weekends.

The reason ATR had such issues for the first 3 months of last season was down to the structures of technical services coupled with, in the case of Wicker Man, genuine issues caused by GCI/programming.

I know there have been significant changes made to Technical Services at ATR since then and it's a priority this season to avoid such a debacle.

Perhaps BPB also need upheaval now themselves.

I have to agree park operations were quite poor but I was expecting it so went with the attitude of just enjoying the rides I got on. Feel we did pretty well one of the first in the park straight to pmbo first train of the day then icon 15 mins wait. Then walked to the dreaded Infusion 30 mind. Then queues started to get fairly bad. The worst part of the day for me was waiting in icon queue for 1 hour to get told its down again. But then for the guest a bit further back in the queue to start swearing. Then lean over railing near the station and pick up and throw one of the bose speakers. Luckily it didn't break. All in all had a enjoyable day with friends and hopefully park operations will pick up before my next visit.

Adam, you must have been very close to us in the Icon queue.
I saw the moron trying to dump the speaker down to the ride level as well.

Ash, I hate to agree with you (obviously!), but I would say the worst in at least 20 years...that was when I gave up on opening day rides unless in an organised group...the last days of cheap cash (50p) rides were the worst, three rides all day was the low...spent 1.50 all day because of the queues, and no food!

Jamie...You are either very brave or a little foolish for naming a park manager, and his comments, when you weren't there, and didn't know the background and context, before you collect your paid for season pass. Good luck on your first visit...you may need some!

I didn't think we were permitted to name individual members of staff on here, but as your comment has not been pulled, it must be within the rules.

Yes Rob he was just behind us. I understand peoples frustrations but damaging property especially expensive sound equipment. Theres just no need.

The important difference is though if back then you felt you were having a rough deal it cost you £1.50 and you were free to take your hard earned cash home or to the pier or up the tower, with the option of coming back to see it the park had quietened down in the evening.

Now it costs you £20 you feel an obligation to stay as you have paid for it, you don't necessarily have extra capital to visit the tower during the day and the boot you out 5 minutes after switching the lights on.

Again ash, sadly I couldn't agree more...and that is why the park moved over to wristbands...and why they won't shift their opening times over to later in the day...they don't want the punters arriving early, blowing their cash on the other entertainments first, and arriving on the Beach with empty pockets early afternoon.

Instead they arrive mid afternoon with pockets full, see the park is set to close a few hours later and decide against going g in at all....wonderful business sense!

Surprised by these comments to be honest, if you watch the vlog through to the end we gave an honest assessment about the Pleasure Beach's performance. If you watched the vlog with sound on, you'll know we were covering the changes around the park, as well as looking at the new merchandise, the whole point of the first part of the vlog was to show people what had changed rather than us going from ride to ride and doing the same vlog we could film any other time of the season.

Me and Mike had a full walkthrough of the park 3 weeks prior to opening and made a point of detailing all the changes we knew about, the Rev's paint work was slightly touched up in places rather than getting a full repaint which is what I was getting at.

I don't think we've given BPB any praise for their weekend performance, I have no issue saying my highlight of opening weekend was the socialising in the Velvet Coaster, BPB was no fun at all.

Fair enough but I feel had this been a vlog about Alton Towers there would have been much more mention of the ride down time and bad operations from the start rather than ticked away at the end.

I like Pleasure Beach a lot, I think Valhalla and the Big One are excellent rides, I’m yet to ride Icon.

That said, I think a lot of the praise it receives on here is partly just because it isn’t Alton Towers.

If you go to the two parks it’s clear which is on a different level to the other, and the one that comes out on top isn’t BPB.

Glad we decided against going yesterday now. We looked at some of the comments and ride issues and decided to give it a few more weeks and go then instead. Probably be a bit quieter too as opening weekend is always mayhem.

Don't hold any hopes for next weekend though...still half term...even warmer forecast (don't get me started royjess!), payday weekend for many, and a week isn't long enough to get all those second trains running properly if there are issues with engineer recruitment and retention.
But I will have to attend as it is dippy's round.
