I've always liked the vibrant design of Alton Towers' maps, but I must admit that the map looks a little cramped with all the accommodation on it; maybe it would have been better to have the accommodation on a separate map as they have in previous years (can't remember if it was 2017 or 2018)? The actual directional accuracy of the map is also somewhat questionable in places, but I suppose it's not an OS map, so we can't exactly expect perfect accuracy!
 
I see Frog Hopper remains. Which is a good thing as the Thorpe and Chessington versions are rubbish in comparison, I'm expecting Peter Rabbit to be a similar toned down version.

So just looking at the map and ignoring Cbeebies Land my kids are over 9 years old. what is there to do if they want something instead of a rollercoaster? and we don't want to pay for entry to another site? Answers please

I would imagine accommodation needs to be on the map to fill up space. Imagine how sparse it would look with so few attractions these days.

Not as much as some other parks but there is still:

-Hex
-Gallopers Carousel
-Driving School
-Frog Hopper
-Enterprise
-Battle Galleons
-Marauder's Mayhem
-Heave Ho
-Sharkbait Reef
-Rapids
-Duel
-The Blade

(Might be pushing it with Driving School & Frog Hopper)

Coasters for this category are:

-Spinball Whizzer
-Wicker Man
-Th13teen
-Runaway Minetrain
 
If there's one thing the Alton Towers lineup needs, its more mid-level family rides; specifically things other than coasters. Good dark rides are a must for an all-the-family park like Towers, and as it stands, they only have Duel.

This is something the other big theme parks in Europe do well. Think things like Symbolica, Droomvlucht and Voletarium, which appeal to everyone. That's the sort of big investments AT should be making from here on out. Of course another good water ride is in need as well.

If the next high capex year is put towards a coaster, I think it'd be a great waste considering.
 
Alton towers confirmed this morning that there will be no VR on galactica this season. This was the whole purpose of the space retheme and now it's gone, there's a high chance the ride will be refurbed again, or just changed back to air

So it seems that the high ropes Treetop Quest is closed again, its nicely hidden under the Alton Towers season pass! :tearsofjoy:

How can they expect to fill all this accommodation in the closed season with such limited things to do when the park is closed.
 
It says a lot about Merlin's choice in investments when half of what they've opened since 2010 is SBNO or just downright removed:

* Spider crabs died
* Sub-terra SBNO
* Ice Age SBNO
* Treetop Quest SBNO
* VR on Galactica removed

Of course, none of this takes into account the numerous rides, restaurants and attractions present pre-2010 that have been removed with no replacement offered.

Cbeebees Land, the new coasters and Enchanted Village - basically the major investments - are the only things left standing. Oh, and the Rollercoaster Restaurant. But I wouldn't be surprised to see that go in a few years. Same with the Dungeon and Stargazing Sheds.
