According to the app there is only one shop and that the one in mutiny bay.

Before people say it not the latest. I checked to they is not update for it.

I am surprised they cut their shops. However i can see that being updated quickly. They cant loose out on extra cash.

Well said. That was probably one of the key reasons VR was chosen in the first place. None of this 'exciting opportunities and new technology' nonsense. It was an excuse not to allocate any real finances towards the ride project, redeveloping the ride area/landscape ect. as everything could be done digitally rather than physically. Without the VR, it falls apart and the theme makes no real sense. Merlin so often state they are about theme park experiences (rather than car park coasters). right? It's just the same landscaping/oasis appearance that existed for AIR.
There is, what, some portal like structure with an intermittently working mist effect. And minor adjustments to the station and logo branding. Anything else? I think it could switch back to AIR and few would even notice.
. I mean, if it wasn't for Merlin, I think the ride would of received a much needed Steampunk theme by now, with the tunnel and station given the appearance of some kind of contraption building center or factory. But here we are. At the very least, AIR needs to be brought back, with the original branding, signage and theme of flight.
 
I feel like they need to get back to basics. Yes a new roller coaster every 5 years is nice but if they had a proper makeover of areas it could be so much better.

Honestly if they said "We aren't going to do SW9 for 10 years and we will spend that time doing proper improvements to the park and improving the guest experience, as well as a few new flat rides spotted around" and made their campaigns less about the rides and more about events they are doing, I bet they would be surprised at the amount of people who would prefer it

Mako is in a sea themed park and, it's also more of a namesake rather than a "theme" per se.

Nemesis LITERALLY has an alien right in the middle of it in a post apocalyptic landscape.

Galactica is space port attached to a coaster that flies over grass, footpaths and a car park in a bird like fashion.

It is still reflecting what was open for Christmas. They updated the rides tab for 2019 but didn’t bother with the rest.

Hopefully they've covered it in some hardy perspex where the graffiti is easier to remove and doesn't show as clearly while it is there? It looks very shiny, so maybe they have.
 
The portal looks nice at night though :)

Who remembers that little group of meteor balls which hung in the middle of the Black Hole tent and the ride went around them? Now if they had kept these, they could have hung them up somewhere to create that unique experience of space flight
 
Heads up for people travelling to Towers Saturday or Sunday. Apparently M6 junction 13-14 is being closed from around 5pm Saturday until some time on Sunday. Plan accordingly for any return journey on Saturday or possibly travel to/from on Sunday. Cheers to Chris Willder on FB for the heads up :)

Edit - Reason for shutdown is a motorway bridge demolition.

Has anyone else noticed that the Spa hasn't made it onto this year's resort map? It's always been on the others.

On the subject of the Tree Top Quest I don't understand why it was closed either. The Tree Top Adventure course and zip lines at work (Center Parcs) are always fully booked with everyone wanting to do them, so it is a popular activity. So why it's still closed at Towers I don't know. It would be an improvement even if they just opened it in the summer from June to September or something.

Wait, I said that wrong, I wasn't saying the theme itself was a major retheme, just a cash grab to make Th13teen seem like a bigger deal. Alton Towers made it out to be 'major' although its probably the best quality of area retheming we can expect from Merlin.

The problem with Galactica now, is that its air with a portal (and a zarking good soundtrack). I hope they'v added some more theming around the area, though this is Merlin we're talking about, so in that regard, we have about enough chance as a whelk in a supernova.

I think that at it's core, Galactica should keep it's theme, space travel, because it's a great ride theme. They just need to make it believable on some level.

But they should try and incorporate it more into Forbidden Valley, because it sticks out like a sore thumb. They could combat this by partially re-theming it to include some sort of aliens. It could even have a connection to the Nemesis Monster in some respect.

It would be fantastic if they gave this a proper range of props and theming rather than giving bloody Cbeebies Land an extra acre of land.

Although I think Galactica is fine how it is now and I doubt Merlin will touch it for another 10 years, o think it could be quite easy to slightly modify it to fit in with Forbidden Valley.

All they'd have to do is stick a few Phalanx logos on to the building and change the story (or what there is of one) to making it that you board a Phalanx Aircraft to search the valley for other aliens or creatures. All this would need is a few creatures dotted around the ride area and some new videos in the queue line and station building.

But as I said I think pigs will fly down the Tree Top Quest zip lines before that happens.
