The more I think about it, the more I agree with @Benjsh

We are lucky to have Towers on our doorstep tbf, most of us visit theme parks for the coasters, and AT have a very good line up. Despite the issues, Nemesis/Wicker/Smiler/Oblivion/Galactica are good enough reason for regular visits.

I can't see them removing Oblivion anytime in the next 10 years. They would not find another coaster to put in that spot easily and they will probably have planning problems with anything new.
I think Spinball is the most likely coaster to be removed first, maybe to be replaced with a good Mack family coaster for Cbeebies.

B&M's pay for themselves eventually. No other coaster I know of still gives you a smooth ride 99% of the time after 15/20 years of operation.

They are very expensive to build but I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for with coasters.

Realistically I think they will want to cull Oblivion at some point within the next 10 years. No doubt their line up is strong. If they improved on the flatties and upped the themes they could do really well.

Its very easy to bash TP as well but the theming around The swarm is imo one of the best areas Merlin have

Nemesis is at greater risk.

God I hope so.

If they had any sense they would do when it's needed. The plans are probably still on file and all the groundwork is done for them. Why try and change something so perfect? It's widely regarded as one of the best B&M inverts of all time despite it not being close to the fastest or tallest. It's probably one of the finest B&M's of any type actually for me.

I don't think I could stomach a trip to Towers without Nemmy.

Not to mention the reliability. They rarely suffer from technical issues compared to others.

Air had terrible teething issues if I remember correctly, but it was world first technology tbf.

The issue with Nemesis has never been the track, it’s the number of times the footers in the pit have had to be shored up (you can see the work they have done to them numerous times). I’m no expert and I’m not stating any of this as fact but there is only so many times you can re-enforce a footer before the structural stability will require some MAJOR ground works to be completed.

Any other company would spend the money, do you trust Merlin to do so?

I'm aware of this but don't claim to be an expert on the matter so i wouldn't want to speculate. However they'd be mad to not re-build it when the times comes if it's feasible.

Would B&M want to build the same ride as they don't like to make them as intense as they used to?

Under Merlin, "old rides" would never get that much spent on them to keep them going, no matter how popular, unless they were rebranded somehow. Luckily, Nemesis is Nick Varney's one "see I do care, I made that" golden beam of light that I'm sure he'd personally want to keep supporting.

The reality is ride will definitely need significant foundation work eventually.

Which is why we still have the best one 25 years later. Keep building the bigger, higher, faster, but ultimately tamer variants B and M.

But if you ever get the chance to retrack Nemesis (and I'm guessing the cost of replacing the track would be far less than a new design), do it properly.

Nemesis is still right up there after 25 years as near "the world's most intense ride experience".

Let the Americans have the pale imitations.

Anything less would be an injustice.

There’s plenty of Nemesis track that has already been replaced. Because of this I can’t imagine there ever being a point where a complete retract is required. It’s kind of a Trigger’s broom scenario.

Well 1 - The “Americans” have some fantastic inverts and Nemesis is not track and train the best (it has some cudos due to the environment it’s in).

And 2 - B&M will do whatever they are paid to do within reason. They just retracked Hulk and that’s a relatively old school B&M.

I know absolutely no enthusiast seems to agree but for me smiler and wicker man are far superior to nemesis. Sorry nemmy fan boys
