I give up. I will be leaving TowersStreet, it has become too much of a nasty place to be online. Many members are far too intolerant of views that are not their own, and refuse to take part in worthwhile debate but would rather resort to insults, provocation and nitpicking (the likes of which would not be tolerated on most online forums) and unfortunately they do so unchallenged by the team.

^Thanks.

I can deal with being given a hard time when I'm actually talking about SeaWorld. (Still not nice being called an animal abuser). But to have it brought up in topics completely unrelated does not make for a nice experience online. I'm gutted that I'll have to leave, this will be my final post ever :(

Just my reasons:

Goodbye! Thanks to all the great members on here, I've really enjoyed it over the years!

A shame to see you go Makomania, although I so have to state that Rob had already asked people to stop going off topic - both on the point of marijuana being brought up by yourself and the SeaWorld side of things. Both subjects are emotive topics, and I can see both sides of the point you're trying to make. Ultimately, the subject of marijuana didn't need to be brought up (see my most recent post in there), and the subsequent discussion was completely off topic which is why Rob had stepped in multiple times. Having looked at the posts, I only see someone countering your viewpoint with other opinions you've made public on the forum. I don't view this as bullying, however I do see it as off topic like much of the discussion which is why Rob stepped in.

However I would encourage those who feel that they are being bullied to use the report button rather than engage in arguments on a topic. We're not always able to read every post or indeed understand how a member may be feeling without it being brought to our attention - and the report button is the easiest way to do that.

I can see Rob and later myself have already posted to bring that thread back on topic and I've removed/moved some posts which are not relevant in there.

I'm happy to discuss this further if you want to, but understand at the same time if you don't. Please drop me a PM if you'd like to :).

As much I as love this forum especially for the dark humour from some members I did feel that using Seaworld against Mako went a bit to far.
He only brought up the dope reason in response to people saying they couldn't understand the ban. His point being that disney most likely didn't want it in the parks once legalised in florida, a rumour I had also read elsewhere as the main reason. So I didn't see that in itself going off topic. It only got off topic when his views on Seaworld were brought in to the topic.
Now should be have tried to ignore them probably but when you are so involved and passionate about a subject I can understand it is hard to let it pass. I will miss his updated on their parks and how he does decide to return someday

Given the circumstances, I feel my comment was not only off topic but slightly inappropriate towards you also @MakoMania, so for that I apologise.

It is a shame to see you go.

I don't think it was unreasonable for Mako to bring up Marijuana given the fact that Disney are introducing a smoking ban around the same time it's being legalised in Florida. In fact it's quite key to the debate.

Its completely on topic. the only off-topic part was when whales were brought up to personally attack makomania's views, in a petty way.

It was off topic for a multitude of reasons which have already been addressed :
  • Once marijuana was mentioned the topic descended into a general dope vs tobacco debate. This was not on topic in a general discussion about WDW and Epcot.
  • This later led into an argument of personal opinions/beliefs which our team attempted to put a stop to.
  • This ban covers both parks, with Disneyland being in a state that legalised marijuana over two years ago.
  • Disney addressed this in June 2017 when they specifically prohibited marijuana and marijuana enriched products in their entrance policies for both parks.
  • Nowhere in Disney's statements regarding the ban is marijuana mentioned or alluded to, simply because the possibility of it becoming legal had been addressed in 2017.
