Liseberg: General Discussion

Looks like it should be a nice little dark ride, nothing spectacular but fine seeing as it's main target audience is going to be younger children.

Also I don't even need to have confirmation to know that the music in that video is IMAscore! Sounds very Toverland.

They're spending a lot more on this than I initially thought they would be, especially given the hotel and waterpark expansion not long after.

I’m still not entirely sold on it, but for what it’s worth, it looks like it will be great for the target audience. And it is quite a cute idea to be fair. :)

I've seen nothing that I could judge the whole ride on. Time will tell, but it has to be better than their last offering.
If that short POV is to be believed, there could be quite a lot of scenery that blocks the path of the cars before moving out of the way. My worry is that if the mechanisms for these break down, the whole ride will grind to a halt.

As someone who loves rabbits, dark rides and the Kaninlandet area, I will no doubt lovingly embrace this attraction when it opens. Even more so if they continue using the stop motion rabbits seen in the Kaninlandsbanan queue. Bias innit.

Or there will be a lot of decapitated bunnies and traumatised children.

There’s a lot of people falling over themselves to express how amazing Liseberg is, and whilst it is a great park, I was really surprised to discover they had not a single dark ride on our first visit.

It is a gaping hole in the park’s line-up and after you’ve got over how awesome Helix is, there does begin to feel like there’s something missing. Hopefully this fills the gap, as it’s by far the single biggest issue the park has and seemingly something which is often overlooked.

With a chap like Andreas Andersen in charge, you've got to be confident Liseberg will get this 100% right . He's always spot on in every interview I've seen, a passionate theme park nerd with friends in all the right places across the industry.

Screamscape are reporting that Liseberg are renovating Lisebergbanan for the 2019 season which will involve a new station area and themed facade and new trains:

Interesting. Not sure it really needs it; the station is a bit dated, but then that retro styling is part of the charm.

One of the few issues I feel Liseberg has, at least for me, is their apparent ruthless culling of older attractions. It would be nice to see a classic ride or two still surviving given the park’s age. And no, a picture on an escalator doesn’t count.

Wasnt aware of the station, but the park have been intending to refurb the trains for a few years now as they've been struggling to find/afford parts.

Full faith in them doing a charming job nonetheless, would be great if they could introduce some smoke effects in the station as the trains arrive and depart.

Being done by Gerst I reckon? Looking forward to what they're doing with it nonetheless, it's such a charming little coaster.

I've no issue with the potential for new trains and even magnetic brakes (I think they'd suit the final brake run better, as it's not the face-rending type of Schwarzkopf-Zierer-BHS-whatever coaster). I do however think the station should be left in its charming retro form, just sorting out the transfer track alignment banging as the trains pass over.

Ah yes, the Broms! They are pretty violent and come as a surprise considering how smooth the rest of the coaster is.

Liseberg have announced a competition which is basically trying to ride their 4 main coasters in 2 hours as many times as possible. https://www.liseberg.se/superfyra-tavling/

Experience world-class riding pleasure - on time!
Now you can, at the very premier day of April 27, participate and compete to complete the park's most beautiful ride as many times as possible on a mere 120 minutes. Lisebergbanan, Helix, Balder and Valkyria are all as fantastic as loved ones. Together they form a real superfire, simply. The question is, how many superfires do you and your team manage to do?

The winning team gets eternal respect, the honor to cut the band and inaugurate the summer season at Liseberg!

We are looking for you!
Now we are looking for 25 x 4 riding fans who have the strength, courage and endurance to carry out this demanding challenge in some of the world's best roller coasters!

During the premiere day of April 27, only a few hours before Liseberg opens the gates for the summer season, four teams will settle in who can ride the Superfyran (Lisebergbanan, Helix, Balder and Valkyria) as many times as possible in 120 minutes. The law has the roller coasters completely for themselves and should be able to ride as many times as possible before they reach the target line at the main entrance. The team that has carried out the most superfires wins the competition and gets the honor to inaugurate Liseberg's summer season.

What strength do you have?
To become a part of the winning team, the most important question is: which roller coaster are you? Feel and be sincere towards yourself, during the competition it is your true strength that takes the team to profit!

Team Lisebergbanan
You're a favorite! You think it's just right, but never get boring. A bit like the famous chocolate box on Christmas. Setting up for your friends is a matter of course.

helix.jpg

Team Helix
No one misses when you enter the room - you both hear and see! And you like it. You never know where it ends. Most likely it will be completely screwed ...

balder.jpg

Team Balder
Like a sunbeam, you are spreading warmth that is sure to attract laughter that feels in your stomach. You are simply brilliant!

Team Valkyria
As a shadow you slide around, nothing knows you are really a superhero. With ice cold courage, you make sure that justice always prevails.

competition Rules
  • Four teams compete against each other, each team consisting of 25 members (one of whom is a team leader).
  • The competition is to go Superfyran (Lisebergbanan, Helix, Balder and Valkyria) as many times as possible in 120 minutes between 09.50-11.50.
  • The teams receive 1 point per Superfyra completed.
  • The team must not go the same attraction twice in a row (otherwise the team can post the tactics the way they want).
  • The express input is allowed to use.
  • The first whole team (at least 22 people, 18 in Valkyria) in place at the station are the ones who are allowed to go first in the train (if several teams were to arrive at the same time). The actors will decide and always have the last word.
  • After the ride, the staff gives the coach a stamp on the arm and the coach must also scan the QR code in the Liseberg app to register the ride.
  • The winning team is the team (at least 22 people) who comes first to the goal (no later than 11.50) at the main entrance and who has traveled the most superfires. They show this by having scanned the attractions in the app, but are controlled by the number of stamps that the attraction staff gave to the coach.
Prices
All participants:
All contestants receive a ride and entrance fee to use during the day as a thank you for valiant participation.

The winning team: In addition to the honor and fame of making the most superfires in a short time, you and your team get the honor to cut the band and inaugurate Lisebergsparken for the summer season. The winning team is also rewarded with a star win each.

If it weren't such short notice I'd be very tempted! Even if you don't win, basically ride whoring the 4 coasters for 2 hours sounds like a blast! :D
