SeaWorld Orlando: General Discussion

Could work for Thorpe. I do wonder if one of these would have been more warmly received than Icon and at a fraction of the price.
These do admittedly look fun for smaller parks, but I'm not sure if I see one being better than Icon, personally; Icon is incredible!

Really Icon is incredibly mediocre (and I’m a massive fan of MACK rides and Blackpool pleasure beach).
I guess it all boils down to the type of ride you enjoy, really; I personally loved it, and I think the only coaster I've done that I've preferred thus far is Mako at SeaWorld Orlando! Although I haven't ridden Mako since 2016, so I'm not sure whether I'd prefer it or Icon if I was to ride today. From my memories of it, though, I still slightly preferred Mako.

Sky Rocket IIs must be much better than they look on POVs to be better than Icon, though!

Just visiting seaworld today and honesty I'm finding the park delightful. Clean, good oppperations and they are doing inside looks at the back stage animal areas which is a unique experience for a theme park/ zoo hybrid. Such a contrast to Busch yesterday where I felt oppperations were poor and things were slightly run down which is odd since they are both run by the same group.

Close second to animal kingdom from all the parks I have visited out here in Orlando

We had the same feeling back in 2016. Unfortunately, due to Sea Worlds location between Disney and Universal the company seems to have decided to invest into restoring Sea World over Busch Gardens. Even on days when Sea World has less guests the operation doesn’t take the hit that Busch does.

It makes sense since busch is more off route for tourists not renting a car or prepared to take the shuttle bus. I thought in places the park was up to Disney standard whilst busch felt like animal kingdom on a lower budget (I do appreciate Michael eisner stole the idea for AK from busch)

I was expecting to love busch and be meh about sea world but it was the opposite.way round

We now have a video acknowledging the 2019 launch coaster from SeaWorld Orlando themselves, which implies an ice theme of some sort:

Very interesting... might be one to watch!

Makes sense theme wise as located next to wild artic. Also the ride will be more family thrill than an actual thrill coaster, the top hat will be around 80ft tall so the launches won’t be that fast/intense. However this is exactly type of coaster the parks needs with the 3 B&M thrill coasters.

On another note seaworld are finally planning to replace wild artic, possibly the next project once the coaster is complete. One idea they looking at is some kind of flying theatre attraction.

Here's a NL2 prediction for this coaster based on the leaked plans:

Looks like a great family thrill coaster, which is exactly what the park needs.

Looks like a fun family coaster which is perfect for the park seeing as they already have Kraken, Manta and Mako. Will be interesting to see if it has the comfort collars a la Tempesto, Electric Eel and Tigris seeingas it does not seem to invert.

I enjoyed riding Tgris so looking forward to seeing this coaster. Nice and smooth though a bit of a neck breaker!

To be honest I feel seaworld is at saturation with their (exceptionally good, especially Mako) adult coasters with the current park size so focusing on more family rides is a great plan

That actually looks a lot more intense for a family thrill coaster than I originally anticipated!

First Florida trip since 2013 next week, first time in SeaWorld since Mako was built. Cannot wait ! Infinity Falls looks like fun too
Have fun! Tell us what you think to the park when you've visited; I'm especially intrigued to hear your review of Mako as it's my present number 1!

Will do. I've done Kraken & Manta before, big fan of those. Last time was the only time I've ever done the dining package. Breakfast at park right at start of day, then lunch, afternoon snack/drink, then none of us got more than halfway through our tea as we were so stuffed! Mako looks immense. Trains / restraints look same as Shambhala, so should be really good fun. The way it curves round the lake looks superb. I would love trains like that on The Big One

If you liked Shambhala, I imagine you'll probably like Mako too!

As for your comment about the Big One; if the Big One was a B&M hyper anything like Mako, then it would be in with a chance of being my favourite UK coaster and would probably have a firm spot in at least my top 5! As it stands, the Big One is unfortunately my present #59 out of 66 coasters; I'm afraid the sheer roughness stops it from ranking any higher!

Haha. Does Mako ever operate on one train, or go round with a train half filled with sandbags? I realise in saying this that you can't compare Florida with Lancashire!
