Lightwater Valley

Cant help feeling that this site is single handedly keeping the park open at present lol
I only visited last week after the forum sparked my interest!

On a side note. I managed to walk past the ticket booths and into the park unchallenged without paying (someone had already paid for me and was waiting by the mini golf whilst I’d gone to the loo)

Don't miss Raptor Attack either. Excellent indoor family coaster there! :)

The first drop is decent. Just watch out for the breaks (which the ride op must get sick of warning people about) and the high restraint bar.
Yeah those brakes are pretty sharp. It's the themeing and walk-through sections that make the ride as good as it is. You have to mind your head in the tunnels though.

Great visit today with @rob666. Pushed the ‘32 stone combined weight maximum’ water slide boats to their limits. 6 rides on The Ultimate. It kicked our arses into submission. Consensus is that’s it slightly more bearable at the back. The front row was horrific around the banked corners and the middle not much better. Best rides were late in day after school trips had gone and we got the luxury of a row each on a half empty train. Still, those restraint holders are the most bizarre things ever, and you spend the whole second part of the ride trying to not have your knees bashed in by them. Really crazy and intense ride. There really is nothing like it anywhere. The serene calm and views at the top of the second drop before all hell breaks loose! Credit to the staff who had to deal with queue jumping attempts for a few hours and didn’t stand for any messing about.

Highlight of the day was finally getting on Raptor Attack after it closing then reopening several times, enjoying the ride and then on the turns towards the end suddenly the lights come on and the ride stops on an awkward tilt. We get a great view of the entire ride layout and wait about 5 mins for assistance to come, in the form of 2 staff who basically push us off for the last part of the ride. Of course we were not remotely bothered by this turn of events and rather enjoyed it. As we left the train, one of the staff was overheard saying “That was the happiest breakdown ever.” I guess they’re used to a more panicked response! It had a few breakdowns after that too, including one where we were literally about to step into the cart. Sensors must need a good looking at.

Also we were possibly the only ones to walk the Skate Karts track all day. Quick go on Ladybird coaster, 2 of the water slides, river rapids & the train. Nice packed lunch & managed more rides when the trips went - some coaches were leaving even at 1:30. As usual, nice atmosphere in the park and a lovely day for it.

Very nice little park and a shame they can’t make use of more of the space by adding new rides.

After extensive testing, not really much better.
Taken me 28 years to realise the right seat is marginally wider than the left.
Lard arses take note.
Six rides, beaten to death over five hours.

Double post, shoot me three times...
Why do I seem to have a purple map of the Americas on the inside of my right underarm?
And unusual feelings on the inside of both knees?
Come on you lovely tykes.
Support your local park.

Any guesses/knowledge as to when a court case for this incident will be? I’d ideally like to get there to finally ride The Ultimate before they’re inevitably hit with a fine and close for good...

Going off the court case for the Smiler, I'd say one for the Lightwater incident is likely within the next couple of years, depending on how long it takes HSE to compile the evidence and decide on how to proceed.

A north meet at here and Mingo is looking more and more likely. Such a shame this is happening to LWV :(

I think it's fairly unlikely we'll do LWV and FL in the same meet again in all honesty, so I wouldn't hold out for us having one on the calendar anytime soon. LWV was a really short visit for a lot of people when we went, and it's not somewhere where people want to typically revisit again and again considering the distance for many. You'd be best arranging some sort of mini meet most likely :).

Had another great day at Lightwater today.

There were 10 coaches and decent amount of cars parked up which is a good sign that people don’t appear to be staying away.

Despite the school kids visiting most queues were pretty decent, Ultimate unfortunately on 1 train but at least they were batching while the train was out doing its run unlike last year where they waited til the train was in station to batch. Ultimate still as mental as ever but 100% worth the trip.

Park audio louder and more coverage which as to the place. Understandable that Twister is still shut but it does stick out like a sore thumb. Hopefully be open again soon.

As ever always recommend a visit to anyone who’s not been before.

Rapids holding pool was a bit :D
