The UK's world class coasters

Pretty crazy that until now no coaster in the US has more than 7 inversions, and we've got one with 14 and soon going to have two with 10 :D

It's just a shame that between then they do little else.

I mean I put three of this countries shuttle loops above them (Rev, Bullet and Thunder Looper) all of which have a single loop

Nemesis is the only world class coaster in the UK. There is not way for one second that coasters such as Icon, Wicker Man, Grand National or Megafobia are world class. Yes people may like them and rate them highly, but world class? That would make over half of the coasters in the world classed as world class.

I guess it depends what exactly a coaster is required to do to make it 'world class' doesn't it?

It also has a lot to do with personal opinion, which we as a community are not exactly known for accepting that of other people's are we? I mean I like Baco, according to some that makes me spawn of Satan.

Even weird people who like Baco couldn't honestly declare it world class though...

Right?

There's two categories really, world-class regarding actual quality (Nemesis alone is the only UK coaster like this) or world-renown (Smiler et al.)...

Should certainly not base the world class marker off a singular website well known for banning those who disagree...

Yeah wasn't going to say anything but I agree... TPR is a load of shit but don't think there's any other coaster polls except Golden Tickets. And Captain Coaster just jumped into my head

I think The Smiler's fame is being considered higher than its actual quality as a ride. Yes enthusiasts globally may recognise it and comment on it, but that's purely down to its notoriety from the accident and its inversion count. It was designed to please from a marketing perspective and not that of a ridership.

Nemesis on the other hand may have worn off on some of us due to the copious number of rides over the years, but it still appears to remain a firm favourite to those who have travelled from aboard to ride it. I really do think in this day and age it's taken for granted; it's easily our trump card for entering the world class coaster platform.

Any suggestion alluding to Icon as a world class coaster is a farce. In fact none of Pleasure Beach's coasters are really. It's just the nostalgia talking.

See I think Smiler has a really good layout that is world class, unfortunately the build quality on top of the generalised Gerstache has stopped the enjoyment since its first season.

Don’t understand the Megaphobia hype, seemed decidedly average to me.

I suppose my question is what is world class? It’s not like there is a league table of great rides out there, as everything is so objective. If you are talking about scale then quite a few UK coaster make the cut. If you are talking originality then again the UK does ok. If it’s rider experience then things get harder to decide.

One thing we can be sure of is the UK is generally naff for theming quality.

I'm sorry, but you all are completely wrong, this is and has been the UK's world class rollercoaster for many years
