Thorpe Park: General Discussion

Does anyone have any information about the club MTV nights? Was trying to see when they are to avoid, however they aren't listed on either the event page or the ticket page.

Did they happen already?

This page, found linked elsewhere is dead too https://www.thorpepark.com/mtv

Edit: this is also the link they gave out on twitter 2 weeks ago. On twitter they said 7th September.

The previously published dates were 27th July, 17th August and 7th September - but you are right the links to book tickets are dead and there is no mention of it on the events page of Thorpe’s website. Maybe they are going to be cancelled?

Do the late openings until 8pm have anything to do with MTV, out of interest? Only asking as I'm attending a late opening at Thorpe in August, so I was wondering if MTV would make it any busier.

The MTV events (if they go ahead) start from 8pm onwards with no rides etc so unless people book separate tickets to Thorpe Park for the day (or use their annual passes) they won’t have access in the day time. There were only three planned MTV nights so it’s not on all of the 8pm closings.

Ah right. Thanks for the clarification @AT86!

Are there no 10pm closes this year?

I think if THORPE didn't have a relationship with Sullivan buses to operate the 950 then late closes wouldn't be viable.
Even now with X41 towers still has poor public transport compared to THORPE, which is still not quite as nice as Chessington (due to Chessington buses being TFL).

You're very welcome! I can't wait to experience one of these late night closings!

Well on experience I can say go to one of the early ones, perhaps even a Thursday. Back when they did Summer Nights, a lot of people used to leave around 5-6pm, probably because they got so fedup being stuck in the park since 9am queuing for rides to stay, that the evenings were virtual ghost towns and most rides walk on.

It was only later during the month when word got about that the park was open later (another thing was most people didn't know it was open late) that the evening time started to get busy, but having said that the longest I ever waited was 20 minutes for Nemesis on the August bank holiday weekend event.

However, I didn't go to any of the late night events last year, so it may be different now.

So Thorpe have premiered a new advert and it would appear they are the only theme park on earth who would dare advertise a bouncy castle on national TV.
