2019: General Discussion

Another example of the piece of crap society we live in in 2019 Britain. Someone is asked to stop breaking the rules but just carries on regardless with absolutely no consideration for another human being, then apparently it's the innocent guy who was just doing his job who is the person who is guilty of something (Jobsworth apparently). People just think they can behave however they want nowadays and get upset if anyone has the audacity to call them out for it. Even if the guy did want to try to get a cheeky snap then fair enough if you want to try on the sly, but when you're asked by the employee to cease doing it, then just have a bit of respect for another human and stop. It was just a crappy pixelated phone image of an image on a monitor from distance anyway. I absolutely applaud this guy for trying his best to stop this 'customer' from being a general nobhead. He should be supported wholeheartedly by his employer. People like this should be ejected from the park for disrespecting staff. If I was in charge of this country I would ban cameras on mobile phones as people just can't be trusted to act responsibly with them. Thanks.

If I took a photo of every page of the Daily Mail early tomorrow morning and plastered those photo's all over the internet and social media, effectively giving everyone a free copy of their newspaper. I wonder how long would it be before a jobsworth representing the Daily Mail would come after me?

A lie (£30) plus an 'article' that's just repeating everything you can see for yourself on the original video, obviously the Dead Mail just pay their staff to scroll through Facebook trending

It's a slightly funny video you have to admit, but you got to feel sorry for the staff member. Theres no way you can really prevent people from doing this without adding watermarks, so staff have got to uphold an ineffective rule for an overpriced photo service. So theyd be damned if they do, damned if they dont.

They really need to add watermarks like other parks (and improve the photo quality while theyre at it!)

So do you think it would work?

The output of the IR light would have to be at least twice the light output of the monitor. And would if to the side of the monitor would blank 70 to 80 % of the screen.
The most effective would be to have them reflex off the screen.
So theoretic they can, in practice it will have problems.

I feel for the employee but don't take the privacy thing. What's to stop the wrong adults purchaseing images of minors? If your saying it's for privacy reasons then why display images of other people for sale. I agree it's not fair on the employee but Alton's excuse is just wrong.

Nothing afaik, plus you have the digipass kiosks to photograph.

Everything is about privacy nowdays, it's this stupid "look over here something to be outraged at" hypocrisy mentality, I get it with the drones and wings, a person will rant on about how I'm invading their privacy by flying in a field half a click from anything yet be perfectly accepting of the Police cctv camera pointing at us while they're doing it.

I've had photos of someone else and their family go to my digital downloads at Towers, same at Universal Orlando so their systems fail at this privacy nonsense anyway.
Ironically one of the digipass kiosks biggest privacy concerns is the reason that should happen a lot less

Not sure if this has been mentioned anywhere but it looks as though the running of Treetops Quest has been outsourced to an adventure company to run through to September

Makes sense I guess, they would have struggled to recruit people with the right skills to safely run the course for such a short period of time.

I believe that if the picture is of a child, said child has to be with the adult making the purchase. Of course, I've still got plenty of ORPs that happen to have kids sitting beside, behind, infront of me etc. that are still perfectly visible...

Still don't get it? Do people seriously believe paedos hang about in picsolve kiosks taking photos of kids on rides....

A paedo is far more likely to get a job working with kids (say for instance in a school like one did at my sons old school) to get their kicks than wonder around aimlessly at an overpriced fair.
